The man walked through the garden in the back of the white house, white roses sprinkled the bushes around him. They looked dull, upsetting even, then out of the corner of his eye, a white rabbit appeared. It was wearing a little coat, beckoning him to follow as it pointed to a watch. He gave it a questioning look, looking around to see if anyone saw it too. No one seemed to notice, so he followed it. The rabbit ran, getting faster by the second as it lead him out of the garden and into the forest, disappearing behind a tree. The man walked over to the tree and looked around it, seeing a rabbit hole in between the roots. Curiosity struck him as he bent down to look into the hole, hands on the edge. The hole seemed to have gotten bigger, the ground crumbling under his hands as he slipped and fell in. He screamed as he fell, trying to grab onto something, anything, but it seemed he couldn't reach a single thing. As he fell, he seemed to slow down, hitting solid ground with a soft thud. No pain emitted from his back in which he landed on. He sat up, looking around. There was a glass table in the middle of the room he seemed to be in. He walked over to it, seeing a key and a bottle of liquid. He grabbed the key, smart enough to know it lead to something, then looked at the bottle. A tag of white paper stuck to the top, but he chose to ignore it. Instead he looked around, seeing a small door on the other side of the room. He walked over to it, fitting the key into the keyhole and unlocked the door, groaning as he realized he couldn't get out being this tall. He walked back over to the table and took the bottle of liquid, he read the note. 'Drink Me' it said. Connecting the dots, he walked over to the door with the bottle and uncapped it, taking a swig. He shrinked in size, watching as the small door suddenly got bigger. Tossing the bottle to the side before it could crush him. He smiled triumphantly and cheered, leaving out the door.
The outside of the room was different than what he expected, large flowers, bushes, grass, and trees. Everything was bigger than him, well almost everything. The white rabbit was there, smaller as well. The rabbit tapped its watch and ran off, leading him somewhere. He huffed and followed, seeing as there was nothing else to follow. He ran down the concrete sidewalk that was damaged, trying not to trip. A pair of twins walked out of the grass and in front of him, blocking him from going any further. They shouldn't be called twins actually, now that the man thought about it, they just wore the same outfit. They furrowed their eyebrows at him, looking at each other then back at him, smiling brightly.
"Evan is back! Oh the Hatter will be proud!" They both yelled out, jumping up and down happily. The man, Evan as the two called him, looked at them with confusion. They both stopped as they seemed to realize something. "Oh but what would the king say, would he send him to his hand or leave him for dead?" They both spoke to each other, running off after they came to an end in the conversation. Evan followed after, yelling for them to wait for him. He slowed down after they disappeared, trying to catch his breath. He bent over slightly and put his hands on his knees, breathing heavily. He furrowed his eyebrows and decided to keep going. He walked on, looking around as he seemed to not know where to go. He looked to his right to see a rock he could sit down on. After he sat down, he covered his face with his hands and sighed out. He was lost in this completely upside-down world. This alternate universe which was very weird from his reality.
"Where am I?" He asked to no one in particular.
"Well I'd say you were here on that rock but I could also say you were there under the sky, which d'you prefer?" Evan screamed out as he heard the question right next to him. He looked to where the voice had come from, seeing nothing there. He quickly looked around him, not seeing anything at all. 'I'm going crazy!' Evan thought, looking forward, screaming and falling off the rock he sat on. A grin of too-sharp teeth appeared in front of him, followed by two glowing fuchsia eyes. "What a lovely human you are, OH! You must be the famous Evan that we've all in Wonderland have met, hmm?" Suddenly a woman appeared in front of him. She had blonde hair and was floating in the air. Violet and fuchsia striped ears poked out from her hair and a tail poked out from behind. Her hands cupped her chin as she looked at Evan with interest. "You've grown up to be such a looker Evan, but you're no mere interest for me," the woman winked. Evan looked away with disgust, her breath smelled and her teeth looked red.
"Have you ever tried a breath mint because it smells like you ate a corpse," Evan breathed out. The woman cackled out a laugh, taking his comment for a joke.
"Oh but young Evan, how right you are for I have eaten a thing that you used to know, now let me lead you to the one place you can get help as the king himself will send his descendants after you! Now follow the smell of smoke as at the end of the trail you seek what'll give you the truth," the cat, woman, whatever it was, disappeared with a wink to leave behind. Evan sighed and got up, dusting himself off and swiping his hands against each other to get the dirt off. There was a little bit of blood on his hands after he picked out a sharp rock that dug into his skin. He continued on from where he stopped, looking for the smoke that unfolded in the sky. He followed the smoke, flowers around him grimacing as they stared. They whispered to each other about him, insults being sent his way.
"Is that?" "Yeah, that is," "Ugh, he looks weird," "Maybe we should devour him before the Hatter even knows he's here,"
Evan walked faster after hearing the last one, the flowers baring their teeth as they towered over him, getting ready to grab a piece of the walking flesh. He was ready to scream when suddenly things stopped. He looked up, seeing a man sitting on a mushroom. He sat with his legs crossed, a cigarette between his index and middle finger. He had blue hair and dark blue clothing, his shoes black. His skin was brown and he looked down at Evan, his eyes glowing yellow. He puffed out smoke into Evan's face, causing him to grimace and cough, wafting it away with his hands.
"Hello, E-vaaan," the man dragged out, placing the cigarette between his lips and intaking the smoke, puffing it out after removing the cigarette.
"The cat told me to come here," Evan told the man. The man narrowed his eyes in response, putting the cigarette down and leaning forward. He fell off the mushroom and walked toward Evan, leaning over him and grabbing him by his chin. Evan cringed, grabbing the man's wrist and pulling his hand away from his chin. "Don't touch me," Evan ground his teeth together. The man puffed out smoke in Evan's face, laughing afterward.
"You're to go to the Mad Hatter, directions are simple, follow the smell of tea and the sound of laughter," the man said, smiling widely at Evan. Smoke poured out of the not-so-nice smile. It creeped Evan out, the smoke followed by a black liquid. Evan, horrified, hurried off. Following the smell of tea and the sound of laughter. His path went in many different directions, his back hunched as he ducked under tree branches and razor blades that had dried blood on it. Evan was curious. The land seemed to change, the only thing that didn't was the same cracked concrete sidewalk. The trees around were burned and ropes hung from them. A trail of white roses lined the sidewalk, Evan noticed. He hadn't seen them there before. The sound of laughter was louder, it seemed to sound like glass was breaking. Fresh trees appeared around him suddenly, making Evan whirl around to see that there were no burnt trees with ropes on them or razor blades that were too big anymore. Just a dark forest with shades of natural lighting.
A laugh echoed around him, it was maniacal, followed by another laughter that sounded feminine but was the same as the one before. Evan walked on, dodging a teacup that flew his way last second, the cup breaking over his shoulder, a piece digging into the side of his throat. He winced in pain, bringing his hand up to take the sharp out of his skin. He looked up to whoever threw the cup and saw a small girl with large brown rabbit ears standing atop the table. Her brown hair flowing with the wind. She had a look of surprise before the feminine laughter from before bellowed from her. She held her stomach in pure amusement as the man next to her pulled her down from the table. Her laughter stopped when she felt the hand around her arm pull her down. She pouted over to the man with the large hat, plumping down in her seat as she sipped at a cup of tea. The man stood up and walked around the table, looking Evan up and down.
"Evan?"
