5 minutes later Ivy walked into the kitchen in her usual skinny jeans and band t-shirt. Wow, she was able to rock anything she wore. Even the towel wrapped around her head. She could walk through New York City in that outfit and probably start a new fashion trend.
'So what have you been up too recently?' Ivy asks while munching on a chocolate biscuit, 'Let me guess. Have you gone to school almost everyday to teach and on the weekend just sit here and eat cereal?'
'Eh excuse me, I'll have you know I have done a lot more with my life than eat cereal and go to work.' I reply offended
'Oh really? Like what?' she asks as she sits down opposite me.
My mind went blank. What had I done? Nothing, nothing at all. Just the same thing day after day. What was I gonna tell her? That I wrestled a lion! Or I joined the circus!
'Well I did finish all 5 seasons of The Walking Dead and I went on a date.' I state after a good 5 minutes of thinking. 'So there.'
'Wow, that sounds super exciting!' says Ivy sarcastically, 'So I'm guessing your date was with a boy? Is he cute? Was it he's butt that attracted you to him? Does he look like Harry Styles because I know you LOVE him?'
'Oh ha ha you're so NOT funny.' I respond sharply, irritated by her comment. 'It was a date with a girl for a matter of fact'
'So, she's your girlfriend?'
'Not exactly.'
'So you just went on a date with this girl?'
'Yes.' I sigh
'Wow, that's lame. What have I taught you over the years? To make a move on every girl who accepts a date with you because that is probably the only girl in on this earth who wants to have sex with you!'
She was right, that is what she has been telling me my whole life. But this girl just wasn't my type and I'm probably never going to see the girl ever again.
'So did you do her and then tell her you didn't like her in that way?' Ivy asks now actually interested in what I was saying.
'No,' I sigh 'We went out for food, we both agreed we had a good time and I just never called her back.'
'That is probably the worst thing you could do to a girl.' Ivy practically screamed in my face. 'I bet she was a lovely girl and you just let her get away. How could you do that? What if you were meant to be together and now you won't be because you were stupid and didn't call the lovely girl back. Shame on you, shame on you!'
Now Ivy was just rambling on about how I was stupid and men are stupid. She really doesn't like men. But she does like complaining.
'All right, all right I get it. I'm stupid, men are stupid, women are great. Enough about what I've been up to what about your crazy adventuring life?' I ask Ivy 'Have you been running away from a herd of elephants in Africa or photobombing the President of America? Or did you get married?'
'Oh, you know the usual,' she says casually putting her feet up on the table, 'running away from the SSCMI, trying to stay hidden. Literally it's been 80 days since I last saw you and I've been to 39 countries.'
'Any place good?'
'I finally got to Japan and the door I walked through brought me to the dressing room of that band I love The Strypes and they were super cool about me just walking into their dressing room. Look see.' as she hands me her camera with pictures of her with indeed The Strypes in a dressing room.
As I flick through all the pictures on her camera of different countries I glance at Ivy to see her close to tears.
'You okay?' I ask concerned
'Yeah I'm fine, I've just missed you and your weird kindness' she forces a smile on her face, 'Is it okay if I crash here for a few days?'
'Yeah of course'
'Thanks, I'm gonna go dry my hair. The hairdryer is in the same place as always right?' she asks as she stands up to find it.
'You know it.' I reply as I watch her leave the kitchen and enter the other room.
As I sit here finishing off my cereal, I think of how Ivy's life must be so hard. She can't settle down anywhere without being hunted down but the Super Secret Collectors of Magical Items society (SSCMI). Some days I think she just wants to hand her magic key over to them but she promised her dad she wouldn't, as long as she lives. All she ever wanted was her dad to be proud of her.
