I thought back to what Haru told me after I scolded Jay.

"Be nice to her. She may be full of smiles but I think there's more to her than just good looks and a sweet smile that brightens the day." He said.

I looked up at Jay. Her dark brown eyes were solely focused on the road. Her long brown hair flowed in the wind.

I looked forward to examine the mountains. Just a few more until we reach the valleys, and then beyond them lies the Water Kingdom.

"Oi, Kane." Jay called out to me.

"Yeah?"

"Don't get mad at me, but I want to know about Sarah. Who is she?" She asked gently.

"I told you to stay out of it!" I said, stopping and clenching my fists.

Jay looked back at me and Rey halted. Her eyes shined with worry and disappointment. She looked down and hung her head.

"I get it. I'll stay out of your business." She said, barely able to make her voice go higher than a whisper.

My clenched fists softened. "Look, I'm-" I started to say.

"Forward!" Jay said, her back facing me and Haru. Rey sped up and disappeared along the high boulders.

"Look what you did. You yelled at her for no reason and now she's mad at you. If you keep this up, she's going to end up crying. But if one thing I know, it's that Jay isn't the type of girl who cries over boys and stupid things we do." Haru complained.

"I didn't want to hurt her." I muttered.

"Well you did. And know her feelings are in your hands." Haru said, poking my chest. We continued to walk.

"I didn't want her to die." I said quietly.

"It wasn't your fault. Sarah died for you, it was her choice." Haru said.

"Do you think she'll forgive me?" I asked, looking at the boulders.

"Who, Jay? I don't know, but you better hope she does, or else Rey will murder you." Haru laughed.

"You're too relaxed."

"And you're too uptight."

Rey appeared from the boulders along with Jay.

"Haru! Haru!" Jay smiled, waving.

Haru smiled and ran to her.

"How much more until the Water Kingdom?" Jay asked.

"Not long, just beyond the valleys after these few mountains." Haru said, pointing.

"Aye!" Jay smiled, saluting him. She completely ignored me.

Rage bubbled inside of me. Haru and Jay were talking like they were some old friends or couple. It enraged me. A new feeling bubbled up. I wanted Haru and Jay far away from each other as possible. It was weird.

I shook my head and walked on, and hard expression on my face.

We reached the valleys three hours later. At that rate, my legs were wobbly and I had to lean on a stick to walk.

"Jay." I called out.

Nothing. Not a word for her.

"Jay, I'm sorry. It's just Sarah... Well, she was very important to me."

Jay turned around to look at me.

"Kane, at this point, I don't care. I get it. Sarah was your girlfriend who probably disappeared or died and your still sad about it. I don't care anymore." Jay said coldly. She turn to face the road and scratched Rey's ears.

"You really messed up, Kane." Haru said, looking at me and smiling. I gave him an annoyed look.

"Oh, c'mon Kane." Haru said, putting me in a headlock and ruffling my hair.

"S-Stop Haru!" I protested.

Haru laughed and let go.

"Kane, lighten up, lad." He said in a fake British accent. He smile and kissed my forehead.

"You! You know I hate when you do that!" I yelled, chasing after him as he ran.

"What? Can't handle a tease?!" Haru called out, sticking his tongue out.

"Hurry up!" Jay called out from ahead.

"You heard the girl, hurry up." Haru teased, running to her. Jay smiled when she saw him. Haru and Jay started talking again.

There it is, I thought, That feeling. I shook my thoughts away and walk towards Jay.

"-and so, I think you should forgive him." I heard Haru say.

"Hmm. Convincing. Alright, I'll forgive him." Jay replied.

I was a yard away when Jay saw me.

"Oi, Kane." Jay said, flashing her brilliant smile.

"Hey. I'm sorry about earlier." I said, looking down.

"It's alright, Kane." Jay said softly.

I smiled.

"So, how far until you two have like, 5 kids?" Haru laughed.

I frowned and hit him upside the head.

"How long until we get to the Water Kingdom?" Jay asked.

"Just over that valley." I replied, pointing.

"Alright. Lets get to it." Jay smiled.
