I Don't See You

Alrighty folks, let's get on with the stitch. Actually there are no stitches in this one. . . hmmm. ALl rights go to ABC f*cking Family btw. Also, if you ordered a dagger, I am running out, so they may be back ordered until about Sunday.

Anyways, this is just some nice little fluff to get some of that heaviness out of our chest. Anyone notice that the sneak peaks for this week are all with Cameron, and two of them involve Kirsten while the other is Camille and Cameron talking about Kirsten? Coincidence? I think not.

Kirsten took a sip of her champagne, her eyes scanning for Cameron. He had gone off to go meet with someone he had set up a contact with, a man they thought had killed their latest sample. Kirsten was pretty sure he had been gone for a while now, but she didn't get up, afraid she might stop the potential success of the case. Besides, it could've been under a minute for all she knew.

As she waited, a heaviness grew in her chest. Where could he be? Scanning the room one last time, Kirsten decided to find the brunette herself. She got up, leaving her drink on the table where she had been sitting. She heard something a snort behind her.

No, she definitely didn't belong at this kind of party, not the kind where people dressed in glittery dresses and tuxes. She didn't belong to parties at all.

Cameron seemed to be at home though, acting like he already knew everyone. He had acted comfortable. Kirsten remembered what Maggie said, about his parents being rich. She realized Cameron must've grown up on this, the fancy parties and perfect manners.

She almost enjoyed seeming him like that, where he was acting proper, nothing like the geeky guy who watched Doctor Who on the weekends. Almost. Until he started talking to girls.

It was like he knew every single one of them, acting like he had known them there whole lives. Kirsten remembered Camille talking to her before she and Linus went in a different direction.

"Someone is jealous."

"I am not."

"Every time Cameron gets close to a different girl you tense up. And then, when we continue, you get a more relaxed face, along with something like a predatory look in your eyes."

"I do not even have a predatory look, Camille."

"Have fun on that island of Denial, Kirsten."

She had then gone off with Linus to dance, leaving Cameron and Kirsten to there own devices. Making it to the stairs she had seen Cameron go up, Kirsten quickly went up. She spotted Cameron in a corner, talking to Fisher. His contact was in handcuffs, being held by two other police officers.

Fisher was apparently done with Cameron, because he headed down to where Kirsten was. Signaling the other officers, he walked over to Kirsten.

"Miss Clark."

"Detective."

"Again, I have a first name."

"I know. I choose not to use it."

Fisher shook his head, a slight smile on his face. He continued walking down the stairs, heading toward the doors leading outside. Kirsten continued up, heading toward Cameron.

Cameron walked toward her, and they met somewhere in the middle. Before Cameron could get a word in, Kirsten spoke. "You scared me." There was no accusation in her voice, not a single trace of fear. It was a statement, blunt and simple.

"How did I scare you?" Cameron moved closer to her, concern on his face.

"You weren't coming down."

"I was talking with the killer."

"Exactly."

"He wasn't going to hurt me. You said it yourself, he didn't just kill Tracy for no reason, he did it because she cheated on him."

"Killer, none the less."

Cameron took her hand. "I'm sorry, alright. I should've had you come with me, but Maggie said she only wanted one of us up there at a time."

Kirsten felt herself soften. "I know. You just didn't want me up here."

"I didn't want to risk you."

Kirsten hugged him. She'd known Cameron for a month, but there was no doubt in her mind that she trusted him. She trusted him enough to tell him what she remembered about her past, tell him what she saw in stitches. She trusted him enough to let him protect her, whether she wanted it or not. She trusted him with her newly-found emotions, and that was something not even Liam had been given access to.

Pulling back, Kirsten tilted her head toward the stairs. "Mind driving me home? I don't really like it here."

"Not at all. Come on Stretch."

--- A week later, about ten at night ---

Banging on Cameron's door, Kirsten sighed. She didn't see why Cameron had woken her up at ten at night. She had been peacefully sleeping, until her phone went off. Cameron had insisted she'd come to his apartment, that it would be worth it.

Kirsten was pretty sure some explicit language was used in that conversation.

Cameron opened the door, glasses on and hair disheveled. He was fully dress, however, and didn't hesitate to grab Kirsten's hand and start jogging her to the steps. She barely had time to close the door behind him before she was being dragged off, somewhere up about three flights of stairs.

The two eventually reached a door, and Cameron opened if for her. Walking out, Kirsten saw where he had sat up a couple of blankets and some snacks, along with a couple of pillows.

"What's all this?"

Turning around, she finally saw the Cameron she knew, the nervous, geeky guy who only found confidence when he was with her. "I just thought the stars looked nice, and I wanted to make it up to you, for scaring you, so I got some blankets and pillows, and I'm rambling, aren't I?" Kirsten smiled, and wrapped her arms around her green-eyed friend.

"Thanks," she whispered. She unhooked herself from him, and let him lead her to the blankets. Helping her lay down, Kirsten let her thoughts wander. It was a while before she spoke.

"Is that how you feel about me?"

Cameron gave her a confused look from beside her, right before popping a blueberry in his mouth. "What do you mean?"

"You know, where if I'm not in your line of sight you get that aching feeling in your chest and your thoughts head toward the darkest outcomes, and worry becomes evident on your face."

"Yeah. That's exactly how I feel about you."

Kirsten stayed silent for a minute. She then turned over and curled herself into Cameron's side, her head laying on his chest, right where his heart was. Taken by surprise, Cameron hesitated before put an arm around her shoulders, then wrapping his other arm around her as well.

Kirsten let herself fall into sleep on that roof, because she knew as long as Cameron was there, she was where she needed to be.

And that's a wrap! Tell me if you see any grammatical mistakes, or spelling errors. I'll be posting probably two more one-shots, then taking a slight one to two week break. I have plenty of ideas, but I want to save some for the gap we will have in between episode ten and episode eleven, which will be out in October.

Do feel free to continue sending me request. I'll probably start updating on weekends, and probably not every weekend after the break. I take dance, and August-December is the busy season. I'll be having two weekend practices and a weekend trip with the dance group to go to Disney World in January, so that will be a little bit of a break as well. I've already explained that most of my updates will probably be this winter break, so sorry for the decline in updates about to come.

Anyways, I'll try my best to get those next two one shots out, and I will see you guys next time.
