Sometimes I hate my life.
You probably wouldn’t recognise me, or think I was important. You know those protagonists, heroes, who end up running the show, with someone not that strong being by their side the entire time?
Yep. That’s me.
You’re probably asking something along the lines of, ‘What even? You're like a what, sidekick?”
Well, to be honest, it’s a bit weird, but…
I’m sort of a spirit.
Well, okay, that sounded really strange, even coming from me. Well, from what I’ve been told, apparently I’m some voodoo spirit guardian thing that creates a new identity, soul, body whatever and attaches myself to be included in the protagonist's life.
No matter what plot line, no matter what power, ability, race, gender or lovestruck romance or whatever.
And the worst thing?
Sometimes I’m a freaking dog and I don’t realise it.
In fact, I have no memory of any of my past lives. My memory seems to only begin when I’ve found the newest hero.
It sucks big time.
Sometimes I wonder if I'm just nuts. So I'm going to tell you my current life, because I, John Kingsley, if that is even my real name, is probably going to convince you that I am indeed crazy.
Because I think I just found my newest assignment.
Peter.
