Chp. 3 : A Weird New Feeling

"I so won, dude." I protested as Ryan, Nolan, Chaz, and I exited the YMCA. "You just don't want to admit it."

Ryan rolled his eyes. "Whatever." I laughed.

"Can't come back at me, can ya?" I teased. Ryan shoved my shoulder over, and I acted like I was hurt.

"He stars on like, two shows and he already thinks he's a good actor." Chaz said, pointing at me.

"Hey," I said, "I was a pretty beast Jason McCann,"

We continued to walk down the familiar street. We passed my grandparents house. My Grandma was kneeling infront of her flower garden. She waved a gloved had at us as we passed.

"I'm goin to Ryan's." I yelled. "Tell my mom!" she nodded, and went back to her business. Nolan turned, and walked up his own drive.

"Your not comin?" Ryan asked. Nolan shook his head.

"My mom's says it's 'Family Night'" -he put air quotes around family night- "and says after basketball, I have to come home" he added a discusted face before walking up the steps, and through the front door.

"So I guess that leaves you, me, and Justin." Chaz said as we continued down to Ryan's house. I could see someone walking towards us, and Ryan elbowed me. 

"Look who comes this way." he said, smiling like a maniac, and shoving me forward. I stumbled, and the person caught me.

"You alright?" It was Lynn. She held her phone in her hand, her keyboard out. she must have been texting someone before Ryan pushed me into her.

"Um, yea. I didn't see that"- I stopped. I thought of something that people trip over everyday- "Tree root."

Lynn gave me a weird look. "A tree root? Really?" That's when I noticed there were no trees around us. I laughed at how stupid I sounded and Lynn added in with my laughter. No to mention, Ryan and Chaz laughing so hard, I'm pretty sure one of them is gonna piss themselves.

"Yea, those pesky things." I said, kicking the ground. Lynn rolled her eyes, and put her phone up.

"Where are you guys headed off to?" she asked as the laughter died down.

"Back to Ryan's." I answered. She nodded. "Where are you going?"

"The Store. My mom needs some groceries." Lynn said, rolling her eyes. "She wants to make spegetti tomorrow night."

"Really?" Ryan asked. Lynn laughed.

"Yes really."

Ryan shruggged. "She cooks better than my mom."

Lynn smiled, and waved bye as she made her way to the store. Ryan pushed my back towards her, and I looked at him.

"Dude." I said. Ryan and Chaz both smiled at me, and pushed me towards Lynn again.

"Come on, Justin." Chaz said. "We both know you got the hots for her." Ryan coughed, trying to hide his laughter. 

I rolled my eyes, and looked over my shoulder at Lynn, who was looking down at her phone. She turned a corner, and disappeared beyond a wooden fence. Another shove, and I was walking towards her.

I felt my pocket vibrate, and I thought it was Lynn, probably asking why I was stalking her, but it was Chaz.

Get you some, Justin. I rolled my eyes, slipping my phone into my pocket. As I turned a corner, I saw Lynn leaning against a stop sign at the street crossing. She was looking forward at the light that told walkers when to walk. The orange hand blinked, saying it was almost time to cross.
