A Love Triangle

chapter 1

Luggage in my hand, I make my way to the entrance of the airport. Being back in Michigan brings back so many memories of snowman built sky-high from the glistening snow on a winter day and swimming in the lake for what seemed to be hours on end. These are the memories along with my family that bring me back every year.
Once I reach the entrance I see a neon green poster with 'welcome home Ava!' In big bubble letters probably done by my cousins. As I made my way towards the mass of family and friends I am greeted by the hugs of my mom, siblings, and my grandparents. I think my mom was the worst considering she was crying hysterically making my brother and sister laugh along with me. These are the moments you can't get away from home.
"Oh my Ava I've missed you so much! You have to tell me how Florida was its so good to have you back!" My mother shouts as she engulfs me in her bear hugs I always received as a child.
" It's good to see you too mom." I reply returning the hug she gave me.
As we walk to the car I got to catch up on what has happened and it turns out you can miss a lot in a year. My sister is pregnant with her first child and that is just amazing and my brother broke up with his girlfriend of three years( she was always a whore.) We parted ways to our own cars and I of course rode with my mom considering my car was at Florida's airport.
I pack my luggage away in the trunk and hurry to get into the car seeking protection against the 20 degree weather. Once inside I sigh with relief taking out my phone and posting a picture of the snow falling on the window to Instagram. Its getting dark outside considering what time it was. Just as we were turning into our drive way, my mom starts up yet another conversation.
" So, Ava do you have anybody special in your life yet?" She questions referring to the boyfriend she wishes I had.
" No mother not yet its still a sensitive topic after what happened with 'him,' I reply not wanting to continue talking about this. " have you been Christmas shopping yet?" I ask hoping she says yes.
After the Christmas of 2013 I am tromitized. I saw a little boy get hit with a shopping cart trying to get a gift from an old lady. I mean he was a little boy for crying out loud!
" no I haven't, but you can come with if you want no one else wants to go. Its a shame really." She replys lowering her voice at the end. I can tell how much this pains her so I agree.
" fine" I can see how her frown flips as soon as the word leaves my mouth. "But only on one condition." She nods her head knowing I'm her last hope.

"Let me figure out my love life on my own."
