3RD POV

It.

Was.

Hell.

Everything hurt, every muscle, every joint, every breath. Nicholas and Hunter could barely stand, let alone walk, stumbling forward and collapsing again and again after Selin left them sprawled in the yard. Each step was a battle. Sensing their pitiful state, the estate's front door creaked open on its own, House taking pity on them. The moment they crossed the threshold, their legs gave out completely.

They crumpled to the stone floor, which, as if moved by sympathy, began to shift beneath them, gently gliding their battered bodies toward the kitchen. The other members of the dark butterflies were already there eating breakfast without a care in the world. The moment they laid eyes on the battered bodies of the humans, they were stunned, but not for the reason you might think.

Ronan: - Wow. You guys are still alive?

Lyra: - oh yay!! They did it!!

Zana: - Ha! Pay up bitch!

Airos grumbled under his breath and tossed her three gold coins. Without a word, Kenju stormed over, hoisted Nicholas up and dropped him into the seat beside him at the table, completely ignoring Hunter, who was still sprawled on the floor.

Kenju: - I knew you could do it bestie!

He enthusiastically spoke, bringing a large piece of meat near Nicholas's mouth, urging him to eat. Nicholas took one look at the food, one sniff, and he immediately turned away vomiting on the floor. Kenju just patted his back.

Nicholas: - I've... never felt this horrible before. I feel like my joints are gone and my bones have been... pulverized.

Ronan: - Yeah, don't expect anything less.

Hunter: - This... THIS IS INSANE!!

Hunter rudely slapped Lyra's hand away as he tried to stand up.

Hunter: - This isn't training, this is torture!!

For once, Nicholas wholeheartedly agreed with Hunter, nodding vigorously as he wiped the last traces of vomit from his mouth. Neither of them even remotely wanted to touch the food, their stomachs felt like imploding from the inside, each limb hurt like they had been crushed under a boulder, sleep threatened to take them any moment now, and they were more than willing to let it happen.

However, they needed to eat, otherwise they wouldn't have the energy for their bodies to heal. So, as slowly and delicately as they could, they munched down mouse-sized bites, urging themselves not to throw up. Eventually, they were able to eat at least a somewhat satisfying amount of food, before ultimately succumbing to their exhaustion and passing out.

Lyra: - I'll bring a healing bloom to their room!

The bubbly girl exclaimed, dashing over the storage room to retrieve a plant, similar to the one that was used to heal the two humans when they were first brought here.

Severed: - Excellent idea. Now let us--...

Kenju scooped the unconscious Nicholas up, carrying him bridal style towards the room where they slept, disappearing from you before anyone could even blink.

Severed: -....take the humans to their room.

Zana exhaled sharply and motioned for Ronan to help her carry the unconscious Hunter. Once they reached the top floor of the tower, they entered the boys' sleeping quarters and carefully laid Hunter on his bed. Nicholas was already there, fast asleep. Moments later, Lyra appeared with the healing bloom in hand and placed it on the table between the two beds. She moved to cut her palm, but Airos caught her wrist before the blade could touch her skin.
