A Love Triangle

Chapter 2

I hopped out of the car rushing again to get my bags and get inside. I had a habit of rushing things.
I loved being back home. My mother lives by a lake on a house on a hill. She lives gardening so she grows raspberries and flowers. So, her house is always gorgeous. Animals are always running around here such as chipmunks and birds and my favorite deer.
Once I got inside, I was greeted by the scent of my mother's house. I walked up the stairs after removing my coat and boots at the door. As soon as I enter the kitchen, our neighbors greet my the exact same way my family did at the airport. Although, I was too tired to interact after being on a 6 hour flight with layovers so I headed to my old room.
Surprisingly, not much had changed. The same white bedspread, blue curtains, white dresser/vanity, and all of my things packed in boxes I found in boxes.
I lit the candle next to my bed resulting in my eyes becoming extremely heavy. I knew I was still in my clothes from the trip, but they were my comfy clothes and I was not in the mood to change. Traveling will be the death of me.
I woke up the next morning to the smell of waffles and bacon. Of course, at the table were those things along with a fruit salad made with my favorites. Soon, I zoned out and my mother was already putting the dishes in the sink. I stepped in to help and we finished them in no time.
" So, Ava would you be a dear today and head to the farmers market and get some things for our bonfire?" She asked. Every time my family is all together we have a giant bonfire. It is the best thing ever.
" of course ma I'll go get ready and head out." I was headed toward my room and did my makeup wich was powder and a taupe eye-shadow. I hated dramatic makeup for everyday life. Next, I got in some grey joggers with a black tank top. Its not the best top choice, but I'm going to wear a jacket all day so why not. Then, I put my hair in a bun and head over to my moms car.
On my way to the market I take in all of the scenery that's still the same. Before I know it I'm here. I head over to the owner Mark.
" Ava! What a surprise I haven't seen you in over a year. How've you been?" He asked following me over to get some things for the salad and burgers.
"Well, I have been good just studying you know. The usual. How is Candice?" Candice is his eldest daughter who had leukemia and is recovering.
" oh, she's good I'll be sure to tell her you stopped by she just loves you to death." He smiles walking back to the cash register to help a customer.
I walk over to the chocolate because while I'm here why not indulge. I walk over only to see that they have none of my favorite candy bar left. Well, poo I come out here to have my dreams crushed.
As I head over to the register I notice a boy. But not any boy. That boy has my freaking chocolate bar in his bag! I rush over to give him a po iece of my mind, but when I turn around my goes blank. He has the most beautiful eyes. Only standing there long enough for him to talk to me.
" you know it's kind of rude to stare, can I help you?" He asks in a slightly deep voice. " uhm, yeah actually. You have my favorite chocolate bar in there," I say pointing to the basket "and I was wondering if I could possibly have it?" I ask using my nicest voice possible.
" Well I guess, but can you do me a favor? " he asks knowing I will do anything for that treat.
"Yeah sure what do you want?" I ask "well, I would like to get your number. He says, but it doesn't look like he wants to date me. He asks it like a friend would.
" sure as long as this is a friendly thing and not a romantic one?" I say making my requests crystal clear.
"Yeah, I wasn't planning on anything more. I just met you." And he just chuckles handing me his phone to type in the number. I do and he hands me the bar and I check out. I drive back home and as soon as I cut off the engine my phone chimes.
