When the trio reached the house, Chris saw his mother's car in front of the garage. Chris looked in the truck and didn't see his mother in there so he assumed she was in the house. They walked into the house and sure enough his mother was in the living room talking to Sheva's mom."Hey mom..." Chris said as he followed Sheva and Nia into the house.
"Hey, how was your walk?" Chris' mom asked as she turned on the couch to look at her son.
"It was nice. Where is Claire?"
"She's at home; she had some homework to do. How are you, Sheva? I haven't seen you in a while." Chris' mother asked as she got up to give Sheva a hug.
"I good, how about you?"
"I'm great honey, thanks for asking."
"Clara, I will be right back." Nadia told Chris' mom as she grabbed Nia and walked upstairs.
"Is that how Claire got her name?" Sheva asked Chris in a whisper.
"Yeah..." He replied in the same tone.
"Can I use the bathroom?" Chris asked Sheva.
"Go upstairs and it the first door to the left. I rather you go upstairs then down here..." Sheva giggled. Chris followed the directions Sheva gave him and went to the bathroom, leaving Clara and Sheva alone downstairs.
"Sheva, I just want to say thank you. You have made Chris so happy, I haven't seen him smile so much. Did you know that every day when he gets home, he talks about you?" She told him. Sheva began to blush and had a big toothy smile on her face.
"Well, he's not the only one who's happy about the relationship. He's my first boyfriend you know." Sheva admitted.
"Really? I thought you would have dated before. You're so pretty, guys must have been all over you."
"Well I THOUGHT I dated before, but it was first grade... I was trying to be an adult." Sheva laughed at herself.
"Oh, don't worry, Chris did that too." Clara laughed along with Sheva. Everything was going well so far. Sheva just didn't want to say anything that would make Clara have second thoughts about her.
"You know, Sheva. You're a really great girl. I'm happy Chris finally chose someone who could take his mind off of some things..." Clara said, getting slightly sad.
"His dad...?" Sheva asked.
"He told you? He never talks about it with anyone... even me sometimes...." She paused then continued. "Chris shut everyone out when we found out what happened. I have never seen him so sad. They were like the best of buddies a Father and son could be. He would tell him things he wouldn't even tell me. So since Chris couldn't see him anymore, he had no one to talk to. He kept all his feelings on the inside and it was bringing him down. He was so sad and depressed." She looked at Sheva and gave her a sad smile.
"Then those first couple of days you came to the school, saw a change in him. He looked happy, and not his fake happy. I mean truly happy. It was amazing, and then you guys started dating and he was back to his old happy self."
"I guess it was kind of the same for both of us. My dad left when I was younger. It wasn't as bad as what you guys had to go through, but it was still bad for me... Then I met Chris and well, you know the rest." Clara smiled at her, she was truly happy that Chris found such an amazing girl. She just hoped that it would last.
"Well, well, well. You guys got along well didn't you?" Chris' voice came from the bottom of the stairs.
"Christopher..." Clara sighed with a small laugh. She knew that Chris planned for them to talk and get along the whole time. She thought it was funny how he was trying to act normal, but she knew him better than anyone.
"How long does it take you to use the bathroom? Did you stink it up?" Sheva asked as she walked towards him and crossed her arms.
"Maybe..." Chris said as he scratched the back of his head.
"Let me go see if it stinks and if it does you will pay." Sheva told him before running up the stairs and into her bathroom.
"Did you stink up her bathroom?" Clara asked once Sheva was gone.
"No, I just wanted to see her reaction because if she wants to be with me, she will have to learn to deal with my stink."
"What am I going to do with you...?" Clara asked with a small smile on her face.
"You could send me to Hawaii, I would like that." Chris answered her rhetorical question. Before Clara could say anything Sheva and Nadia came back down the stairs.
"You got away this time..." Sheva told him playfully.
"Sheva you need to go eat something soon." Nadia said to Sheva as she walked into the kitchen.
"And I think it's time for us to go home anyway." Clara told Chris.
"Do you have to go now? Can you stay a little bit longer, please?" Sheva begged grabbing Chris' muscular arm.
"Yeah, just one more hour?" Chris asked along with Sheva.
"I wish we could but Claire is waiting for us at home and don't forget you both have school tomorrow." Clara told them.
"Aw man..." Sheva said as she let go of Chris' arm.
"Chris I'll be in the car, don't make me wait too long. See ya later Sheva. See ya Nadia!" Clara said to all of them and left out of the front door.
"I don't want you to go..." Sheva told Chris as she wrapped her arms around his large frame and gave him a hug. He returned the hug and rested his chin on the top of her head.
"I don't want to go either, but I also don't want to get yelled at for taking too long either..." Chris told her, trying to make her laugh. It worked and she let out a small chuckle.
"Ok I guess you can go then..." She said looking up at him. Chris smiled at her and slowly leaned in for a goodbye kiss. Their lips met and they stood in the middle of the living room kissing for about twenty seconds then finally let go of eachother. Chris opened the front door and took a step out then looked back at his girlfriend.
"Oh and Shev?"
"Yeah?"
"Love you." He told her with a smile.
"I love you too, Chris." She told him returning the smile. She blew a quick kiss and him and he pretended to grab it and placed it on his cheek. She giggled at him and waved as he closed the door and left. She slowly walked to the door and took her time locking it. She pressed her head against the door as she did, thinking about how lucky she was.
"Love huh?" She heard her mother's voice behind her.
Maybe she wasn't so lucky...
