Nina awoke to a strange sound. She freaked out a little until she realized what the strange noise was- her stomach. She then realized that she hadn't eaten a proper meal in nearly two days. Again, she thought, this must not be healthy. Food at the moment was an absolute must. She decided that today she would try and find some more work to do around the new apartment and go out and look around the city. But first look for a place to eat.

She got out of bed and walked to the bathroom, she looked in the mirror. This morning she did not like what she saw- dark circles and a dead looking Nina. She examined her face and wondered why she kept waking up with nightmares. Dreams of devils danced in her head when she attempted sleep. She knew not why, this disturbed her slightly. She brushed the feeling off and muttered something to herself about paranoia. She chuckled a bit at her own stupidity.

Nina had bathed and put on one of her dresses, styled her thick hair and headed out the door. She was dressed in a purple and gray corset dress. Accented with lace and some beading around the edges, Nina felt something  like her old self again as she exited her home with keys in tow.

Nina decided that since it was such a nice day that she would stay out in the city as long as she could. She made a promise to herself to be very careful and get home before dark fell. She visited a few shops and purchased some new clothes she desperately needed. Aside from the dress she went out in she only had two others at home. So she bought new clothes and a few other things and made her way to the clerk. She paid and left the shop and moved on and about the grand city.

Nightfall was coming soon. She knew she would need to call on a carriage to take her home in time before it began to get dark. She was lucky to get one this time of night. The driver stopped near her and asked if she would be in need of help getting somewhere. She told the man that she needed to get home as soon as she could. He asked where she resided and helped her into the carriage.

There was something off about her driver. He seemed to look at her but it was almost as if he was trying to take her clothes off with his eyes. Though he never made eye contact, his eyes never left her and there seemed to be something impossibly dark behind them. Lust maybe. Whatever it was had  Nina feeling a bit scared. She felt defenseless if he should attempt anything, until she remembered her dagger. She kept it hidden near her upper thigh with a strap. She felt hesitantly under her skirt to make sure she had it. And gasped a sigh of relief when she knew she did. No longer defenseless she felt a little better. If the man driving her should choose to attack her, she would fight back. And end him if she must do so.

Home was getting close. The carriage had taken a wrong turn and an abrupt stop. She felt the front of it move slightly as if someone had just taken a step off of it. She was right. In an instant the door of the carriage was thrown open to reveal a frightened Nina. The man smirked at her with wild eyes as he reached inside and grabbed Nina by the neck and threw her to the ground. She hit her head quite hard as she fell to the ground. She felt helpless now. She could feel a warm liquid running down from the side of her head.

The man picked her up and moved them into the deepest part of the alleyway that the carriage was parked in. Nina felt like her head was going to split in two from her colossal fall back down to the earth. The man picked Nina up and moved her jaw so he could look at her further. "You're mine, whore." He whispered in her ear as he reached under her skirt. He pulled on the strings of her dress until it came undone. At this point Nina was starting to regain some sense of herself, she began to try and fight him off of her. He was too strong. He felt up and down her legs to her thighs, until he came across something sharp that cut his palm. "Stupid little Cunt, what have we here?!" The man hissed. She tried to fight him for the knife and he won.

He then took the knife and pressed it hard to the delicate skin of her throat. "Don't try anything and maybe you'll get to live." He smirked at his own words. Nina was in a wild panic, she kicked and squirmed, trying to get out of his hold. She didn't stop moving until something hard smashed into her head. The man picked up a rock from the ground and repeatedly hit her in the temple with it, Nina began to lose herself to the darkness again but held on. She could barely see what was playing out but could not do a thing to stop him. He had her in the palm of his hands, she was at his mercy. Nina heard a zipper being undone and then a belt buckle along with pants being dropped to the ground. She then felt hands traveling up her thighs again and to her center. Her panties were cut off of her and she whined in protest. He didn't stop. She then felt herself bing lifted up to face her attacker. He wet his lips and kissed her mouth roughly, smirking all the way. He traveled from her mouth to her neck.

"I'm gonna make you wish you never met me." He said with a smile. She felt fear creep up into her spine once more. She could feel his teeth on her throat. She then knew, she remembered her nightmare. It was too late as he bit down and blood began to flow from her. She tried to scream but a hand was placed over her mouth roughly. She felt all her being  slowly and agonizingly taken away. Until his mouth stopped sucking and she dropped to the ground once more. She was reminded of her once fading migraine as it returned full force. But she lie there still, wondering what was to happen next. Was this the end for her, she thought.

I watched as the woman was ripped out of the carriage. A scream filled the air as she was forced to the ground and taken by surprise. I was going to save her, I thought. I must wait for the opportune moment to strike or this vampire will sense me coming and kill her quickly. I could tell he was vampire immediately, he had this air, this smell about him. Like he wasn't even there. He moved too quickly for a human anyway. He was lucky he chose to hunt at night where no witnesses would usually be present to watch this attack on this poor woman.

But I was here. It did however surprise me that the vampire never knew of my being there until it was too late and I had already killed him. The woman was alive but barely. Her heart was beating but it was slowing. Not good.

"Please... Please........ Make it go away.... It hurts... I'm burning.." Her voice had trailed off into small whimpers of pain. She stifled a cry when I picked her up. She was beautiful in every sense of the word. It was a shame that she may not recover from this. I would try my best to save her and keep her human. I decided to take her to Lestat. He was older than I and may be able to save her without her turning. The vampire that bit her never gave her blood so if I didn't do something she would die human. Lestat may or may not help the girl but I needed to try to save her. I didn't know why but I felt I had to. I held her close and ran as fast as I could home, and to Lestat. I did not know just how he would take this...
