IVY WAS DYING IN THE HEAT OF THE WASTELAND. They were five days away from the valley, and they were slowly moving through their small supply of rations. This was a monumentally stupid idea, but it was their only option since the Hydrofarm was gone. The Bishop woman was in such a daze that she jumped when she heard Echo's voice come through the radio clipped to her pants. She spoke in Trigedasleng. "Bellamy, Ivy, come in if you can hear me."

"Echo..." Ivy muttered, and she brought the radio to her mouth while her friends around her looked over.

Harper grabbed her hand, making her stop for a moment and look up at her. She pointed out, "Wait. She's speaking Trig for a reason." That was true. They could be in a compromised situation or near someone that could not know about the plan.

She nodded, and she responded in the foreign language, glancing around to make sure none of Octavia's loyals were near them in case it was something that could not be known by her either. She questioned, "Why are we speaking Trig? What's wrong?"

"They know you're coming. You've lost the element of surprise," Echo informed her, and all of their eyes widened as they looked up. That was really not good. The element of surprise was literally the only thing they had going for them. The miners had bigger guns, the higher ground, and weren't starving.

Monty asked them, "Clarke?"

"It had to be," Bellamy answered, and the blonde woman sighed. She had really hoped that it wouldn't be. She knew of Clarke's opposition to the war and that she was mad at Bellamy, but they really needed to win this. He took the radio out of Ivy's hand and said,"Echo, listen to me."

"Bellamy, if Clarke's on their side, she speaks Trig, too," Harper reminded him because there was a pretty big possibility that she was listening in at that moment since they had access to their comms.

There was a short pause, and they assumed that Echo was speaking to Murphy and the others. She came back on a moment later, warning, "Bellamy, you have to go back. We have their pilot, so you're safe for now. But you can't come here."

"Not possible. It's a long story, but we can't go back and we can't stop," Bellamy explained. There was literally nothing else they could do. "We're five days out. You have that long to find us a safe way in. After that we run out of rations."
