"Mark! We've been driving in circles!" I whined. I was sure we had passed the same building five times now.
"Do you have somewhere to be?" Mark questioned, already knowing the answer.
"No." I bit out.
"Then relax! If I had any I'd offer you a fireball."
My body shivered at the thought of any liquor in Mark's body. That's probably the last thing he needed tonight.
I rolled my eyes and rested my head against the seat. I still smelled like alcohol while Mark smelled like his usual self. My luck.
"Are you going to tell me where we're going?" I complained.
"In mah butt."
"Mark!"
I noticed the change of scenery and got an eerie chill. This wasn't L.A. anymore, it couldn't be. For reasons unknown, we were driving further and further into a wooded area with the houses becoming more and more sparse.
I looked at Mark who was nervously drumming his fingers against the steering wheel. The ride was silent and the sound of a poor signal engulfed the car until Mark switched off the radio.
"Where are we going?" I finally asked.
"To eat!" Mark replied with a forced smile.
"I know that Mr. Fischbach. Are you lost?" I asked with just the right amount of sass and smirk.
"I oddly love it when you do that," Mark said huskily, "and to answer your question, yes! But, I'm following the GPS."
"Connection to server lost." The GPS rang out. It should've told us, "turn back now you're in the middle of nowhere" but I guess its technology isn't that advanced yet.
My eyes widened at the sound.
"Mark."
"We're fine! I'm sure we just follow this path, there's no where else to go." Mark assured me.
I closed my eyes and tried to relax. After a few minutes the car came to a rolling stop, signaling our destination had been reached, at least I hoped.
"Oh no. Marky no likey. Likey no no. No, no, no. Likey no Marky." Mark grumbled while frantically trying to turn over the car's engine.
"This is a joke right? Like you're pranking me?"
He rested his hands and head on the steering wheel and mumbled a "no."
My body instantly felt cold as goosebumps started to alter my previously worry free skin. Everything was dark except for the front of the road, flickering under Mark's headlights with every failed attempt.
"Maybe we can find Mr. Slendyman," Mark opened his door and screamed, "oh Mr. Slendy! Come out to play! We-." Before I screamed and pulled him back in.
"What is wrong with you?" I yelled, completely baffled by his behavior.
"Don't you want to go look for pages?"
"Hell no!" I screeched.
The sound of a lone cricket was the only thing that assured me we weren't completely alone. Mark was too busy dying of laughter to notice though.
"I mean, I have Tiny Box Tim, maybe he can help!" Mark managed to say through his giggles. I smacked Tim out of his hands, earning a "how dare you" and his eyes to glisten over. Were those actual tears he just shed over a character? I brushed it off.
I angrily exited the vehicle and Mark quickly followed. It dawned on me the only source of light that would come out of the forest would be moonlight and there was near none to be found. I opened up the hood of the car in a whirlwind of frustration, turned on my phone's flashlight, and gestured for Mark to come look at his poor lifeless baby. I knew some stuff about cars, but this was Mark's child, so I didn't want to misdiagnose what was wrong with it.
