▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃Chapter 2
Austen Ashworth
LondonToday was a pretty hectic day for me. I had a lot of paper works due today and had a tough, frantic schedule.
Just because I am the CEO of my establishment does not mean everything is easy for me. My father always told me that everything you do should be achieved with great effort. It had always been inside of my mind since he passed away.
Though, my mind was still processing the events and the upcoming wedding. I have tried to busy myself with so much work to forget about that agreement.
This isn't fair to me for I didn't have a say in this. Yes, I did agree to it. Reason was that if I had not approved, my uncle would be utterly disappointed and will do everything in his power to change my opinion.
Would my parents agree to this? Half half, I am pretty sure my mother would be disappointed at me. She always told me to never enter a loveless marriage or else I'll end up unhappy.
I was at my office working when my secretary, Cherry, went inside.
"Ma'am? Your uncle is here." She informed. I then fixed my gaze on the papers and continued to work.
"Send him in." She nodded and went out. I had heard my door open again and closed with a loud 'thud'.
I looked up and smiled. "Good afternoon, uncle. What brings you here?" I just stood up and walked over to his direction, giving him a warm hug.
I led him to the office chairs, where we sat down. "Well, do you not recall that your fiancé will be joining you today?" He questioned.
Oops. I forgot all about that. I've got to be honest with my uncle.
Sighing in defeat, I spoke. "Oh. What can I do? I do not even know where we will meet!" I am currently dreading the meeting part.
Why me? Fate sure is strange.
Never expect too much, Austen.
"Well, Carson's father told me that his son booked reservations at Mirabella. Here, I have brought you a dress for I knew perfectly that you would fail to remember." Not my fault I didn't remember. It's not like I wanted any of this!
"And here I thought I was the old one here." He muttered. Oh lord. I am not too old! Rolling my eyes at his sarcastic attitude, maybe I do forget but at least my uncle knew me too well to remember. Maybe he learned a lot from the blind dates he set me up with those eligible bachelors.
Whatever, I might use a good meal right now because Mirabella is a five star, Italian restaurant. He does have a good taste in restaurants.
Snap out of it Austen, don't compliment him! Don't ever say anything nice about him.
Right! I do not care! I still dislike that bastard! No one humiliates me and gets away with it. Yes, I was still bitter. I can't help but dwell in the past because he offended me. I don't think he would ever change as the better person I want him to be. "What time should I be there, uncle?" I asked. Just so I could start to prepare if ever.
He replied, "If I'm not mistaken, I'd say it is 8:00 pm." I guess my uncle looked into this pretty well. Well, he does know the time so I thought he really wanted to know all information as a possible.
I sighed. It was still 5:30 pm. At least I have time to prepare and fix myself.
"Thank you for informing me uncle, but I still have to do some paper works. I promise to meet him there though." I declared. I assured him that I would attend that date no matter how much I despised that arrogant man.
He then gave me a guilty look.
"I am really sorry dear. For taking your happiness away but this is for the sake of the company and your protection. We need this. You need this. Who knows, you might even have a decent family with him."
Come again? Does my uncle really think that I would fall for him and possibly have a family with him? No way. I doubt he can play the father role and change diapers.
I don't think so.
The thought made me giggle. "Funny. That is never going to happen." I spoke dryly. I'm sure of it. He hates me and I hate him as well so why start a family? It will all just go wrong.
"Never say never, my dear. Don't exhaust yourself with too much work, okay?" He said as he then exited my office.
Well, I worked more for about thirty minutes till I started to get ready for the dinner. It was now six already. I went to my office's bathroom and pulled out the dress that uncle Parker bought for me.
It looks absolutely beautiful if I must say.
The dress was a dark amethysts colour where the skirt in front was above my knees but was long in the back. I gently put the dress on and proceeded to apply minimal makeup. I filled my eyebrows, put on light powder, and swiped a mauve coloured lipstick.
I could pass for an elegant socialite right now. Well, I was supposed to act that way.
Putting on my silver stilettos, I grabbed my purse and went to the parking lot. People in the office looked at me weirdly as I passed them. After all, this was the first time they saw me in these fancy dinner clothes.
I usually wear high end business clothes. But it was the prudish, dull coloured ones. I ignored the looks and gave Cherry a smile. To which, she returned back.
In a distance, I saw my white Ferrari 458 Italia. I really love cars. It gives me a sense of pride, riding a luxurious one. Frankly, I prefer cars than buying expensive watches, bags and all those materialistic things. Inserting the key, I switched on the ignition and drove to Mirabella.

When I arrived in front of the restaurant, I was astonished on how it looks. The exterior looked very refined. No wonder people all over the world go here just to taste their food. It looks classy and nice. I just hope that the food tastes as good as they said it would.
Stepping outside of my car, I gave the car keys to the valet employee.
This place sure does live up to everybody's expectations.
I went inside the restaurant and told the waitress of my dinner plans. I told her I was looking for a man named Carson Mallory. She then pointed to the attractive man seated in the middle of the room. My breath caught up my lungs and I was in a hazy state.
Carson was here.
I gulped. He looks different now.
I comment that he is much more handsome and mature now. His masculine features were more defined as well. I'm pretty sure he had a toned, muscular body under the suit he wore. He looked to be waiting for someone. Waiting for me that is.
You've got this Austen. Show him that you are not the naive girl he used to push around.
I felt eyes of strangers upon me. Don't they know that staring is rude? I held my head high and confidently strode towards him.
He is in for a surprise.
