As the boys played it was obvious that Ashley was the only one enjoying their music. She tapped her feet and gently nodded her head to the songs. When Micky gave her a wink at one point, she couldn't help blushing.
She tried to hide her face from her Grandmother, who was obviously not enjoying this evening.
When the boys finished, they were greeted with polite applause. They gave a bow, and quickly made their way out. Ashley was about to go and follow them, when Margaret took hold off her arm.
"I don't want you to go and talk to those boys!" Margaret said.
"But, Grandmother, I wanted to thank them for playing!"
Margaret leaned towards her granddaughter.
"I am surprised at you, young lady! How could you go and be friends with people like them?"
Ashley suddenly felt angry. "Because unlike the rest of this room, they actually take an interest in me!"
"Keep your voice down!" Margaret hissed. "You cannot possibly be telling me that these boys like you! Especially that one who you held hands with!"
Now, Ashley suddenly felt defensive.
"Yes, they like me. Infact, they made me forget being sad! They made me laugh! They actually cared about me! And, yes, as a matter of fact, I am particularly fond of Micky!"
Ashley was rather surprised at herself for saying that last part, but she suddenly felt tremendously happy that she did!
Margaret gave a scoff, the one Ashley hated most!
"Thankfully that won't last long!"
Ashley suddenly sensed something was about to be said that she didn't want to hear.
"Grandmother? What do you mean?"
"I think I'm falling for her!" Micky said, as they sat at the bar.
Mike and the others smiled, though they already knew how Micky felt towards Ashley.
"And the best part is, I think she likes me back!" Micky felt like dancing! He couldn't help liking what he'd found out about Ashley tonight.
When he found out those British snobs were related to Ashley, he was quite surprised. But, it was even more of a surprise when he found out that Ashley led a double life; hanging out with them and singing at nightclubs. He thought she was really cool.
He wondered if Ashley would want to get out off this place and maybe go grab a bite to eat with him. Maybe they could talk? Not about everyday things, but maybe about them? Maybe Ashley might tell him as to why she had the life of money and snobby people in her life?
Mike nudged Micky from his thoughts and nodded towards the door. Ashley was standing there. When she knew they'd seen her, she turned and walked away. Micky jumped off his seat, and was about to follow her when he saw that Mike, Peter and Davy were still sitting at the bar.
"Ain't you guys coming?" Micky asked.
Mike shook his head.
"I have a feeling you guys may need to get some things out in the open!" Mike winked. "Just stay clear of that grandmother of her's!"
With a laugh, Micky gave his friends a thumbs up, which they returned back at him. Walking out into the lobby, Micky looked around for Ashley. He looked towards the entrance doors, and saw that Ashley was standing outside.
Micky went out to join her, but as he got closer, he sensed something was up. As soon as he was standing by Ashley, Ashley took one look at him then burst into tears!
