We were currently at the airport at maybe 8:30 am. We as in mom, Tom, and me. It was Tom's idea to have an earlier flight so I can get settled in faster. Yeah, real thoughtful.

" Okay Mel, I'll put at least $250 on your card every week and call everyday if I can. Listen to your father and stay out of trouble okay?"

" I'll try my absolute best mom."

To my reply she gives me a stern look.

"Yeah mom I'll be a good girl I promise!"

Note the sarcasm. I'm not a 'bad girl' I just occasionally make bad decisions, but I mean what teenager doesn't once in a while.

"Oh Mel, I love you so much. Watch time is going to fly by if you have fun."

I give my mom one last hug and I can see the tears in her eyes. Why is she crying? I honestly don't know. She chose to go.

"Okay Maria, we should leave Melanie so she can get a good seat on her flight. Do you need anything Melanie? Some extra cash, food, anything?"

Oh yeah, another thing about Tom is he's loaded. I think he's an anesthesiologist which means he gets paid to give people drugs. Like $90 an hour and he works at least 12 a day. Which means he brings at least 1,080 home a day.

I guess that's the only thing good about him.

"No, thanks Tom, I'm fine. Ummm safe travels?"

"Flight 419 be departing at 9:15 a.m at Gate 13B. We will start boarding now"

"Well Mel, I guess you should be going. Remember to text me everyday and maybe we can Skype. Oh I love you so much."

She engulfs me in a hug and I know she's crying. My mother has always been a big cry baby.

" Love you too mom. I'll text you when I can. Bye Tom. Have a safe flight."

They decided it would be a good idea to leave at night so they can get there early in the morning. So they would leave at maybe 6 tonight.

"Bye Melanie, I'll be sure to take care of your mom."

And with that I leave.
