Chapter 4

Ivy POV

Before I could even sit all the way in my chair, Emily and Jackie started bombarding me with questions. “Woah, woah, woah. Guys, I will tell you everything that happened, just don’t talk over each other,” I said, laughing at my two impatient friends. I decided to annoy them a little more, and I reached for my lunch and pulled out my sandwich, unwrapping it slowly trying not to smile at the impatient looks my friends were giving me.

“Ivy. Come on, please tell us who that just was,” Emily said, annoyance all over her face. “That was Michael, Em. Long story for later, but right now Ivy has some explaining to do,” Jackie said, turning back to me. I smiled and put down my sandwich, clearing my throat for emphasis. Both girls leaned forward in anticipation.

“Ok, so you know how I get those awful leg cramps if I don’t eat a banana every so often?” they both nodded. “Ok well I haven’t eaten one in a while and I woke up last night with bad leg cramps. I was going to eat the last banana this morning, but my dad got to it first so –“

“Are you ever going to get to Michael, Iv?” Jackie asked impatiently. “Yes, now stop interrupting,” I glared at her in fake annoyance. “Anyway, my dad ate the last one this morning so I was going to go after school to buy some, right. Well, when I stood up from my locker, my leg cramped up. I dropped all my stuff, and was trying to massage my leg out without screaming when Michael, who was at his locker too getting his stuff, asked if I was okay and then went and got me a banana and water for me. He then sat with me for a bit before bringing me here.” I sat back in my seat and watched my friends absorb all the information I just gave them.

It took them a minute to absorb everything, so I waited patiently for the questions while munching on my sandwich and chips. Emily spoke up first, “Ok, so this random guy just started helping you or?” I blushed and looked at the table. I heard Jackie snicker quietly. I shot her a glare and looked at Emily, who had an eyebrow raised. “Ok, so I may have had a thing for Michael for awhile and this is the first time he’s actually talked to me, like talked talked.” Jackie, obviously unable to control her laughter any longer, burst into giggles and put her head on the table, trying to calm down.

I just watched her. After a few minutes, she had contained herself to where she could sit up and look at me. “Oh girl, that was awesome. From telling Emily that you have had a “small thing” for Michael,” she said using her hands to show air quotes on small thing. “and then you come in her late to lunch with him and your all smiley and talking to him where yesterday, you couldn’t even look at the guy without blushing, stammering, or tripping.” She said. I rolled my eyes and continued eating. She kept giggling throughout lunch, even when we got up to go to our next class.

When I got home, I pulled out my phone and saw a new message from Jackie.

Details please :D I know you weren’t telling everything n lunch 2day. I laughed. Oh she knew me so well. I hit reply and started texting her.

I really don’t know what to tell you, Jackie. I mean, it just felt so right, having him sit there next to me. I didn’t even feel embarrassed or anything. It just felt right, u no?

I hit send and went to the fridge to get a drink. I heard my phone buzz on the counter. I continued going through the fridge when I heard it buzz again. I closed the fridge, giving up on finding a drink, and went back to my phone. I picked it up and looked at the screen in confusion.

2 New Messages. Wow, Jackie must have been on a roll.

I opened up my texts and saw a response from Jackie, but what caught my eye was a message from an unknown number. I sat down at the kitchen table and nervously opened the message, as I never get random messages.
