I crossed the crossing, in my new T-shirt and a bag full of lollies sitting on my hip. I was going to the movies with my friend, Phoebe. I couldn't wait. We were seeing Paper Towns. As soon as her driveway came into view, my heart started fluttering. I couldn't wait to go to the movies. The ticket was one of my birthday presents. I trudged up the step path, to her house. I carefully stepped up, onto the slippery steps, and knocked on the door, knuckles on glass. I waited. The curtains were drawn, probably because Emily, Phoebe's sister, was sick. Her mother slid the curtains back slightly, and welcomed me as she opened the door. It all happened so fast. My mind was struggling to comprehend why all of my friends jumped out from behind furniture, with balloons, decorations, and party food, which was laid out on a table, took over the front room. But finally, as my brain sifted through all these various sights, my shocked expression gave way to a huge grin of joy. I was ridiculously happy. I couldn't believe it. My friends cared about me So much, they threw me a surprise party? We shared a group hug, and they eagerly shouted "present time!" It was only then did I notice the three large gift bags waiting for me. My mind started to get confused. Didn't they all give me things the other day, at school, on my birthday? These thoughts flashed through my mind as I sat on a couch. Bags were passed my way, and I opened the gifts inside of the gift bags. There was SO much stuff, including 3 books, lip balms, Mr Sir glasses, a sparkly hat, jewelry, and heaps more. I was over the moon. I've never had a surprise party. I had the best friends any one could ask for. These people gave me so much, threw me a surprise party, and treated me like I was special. It was the best birthday, and day of my whole life. Thank you so much, Libby, Chantelle, and Phoebe. You guys are amazing. Also, thanks Erin, for being an amazing friend and remembering its my birthday, and my amazing family. I love u all so, so much.
