Valerie Abscond nearly got stabbed by a flaming katana. The sound of metal on metal echoed through the deathly quiet arena as the blade of her scythe burst into white light, before a blast of energy exploded from the tip, aimed straight for her opponent, who in fact was unamused, and easily deflected it with their sword.
The black haired girl panted as she swiped with the blade, exploding forward and at Aurelie Lux, an elemental mage. In Valerie's eyes, she wasn't a person-just a threat. Once again, she raised the scythe as she was in the air above her enemy, slamming the still glowing blade against Aurelie's sword.
Is this even legal? Letting teenagers beat the crap out of each other with weapons? I'm pretty sure this is illegal. She thought bitterly, ducking as a fireball whizzed straight through where she stood before exploding. The arena walls closed in once again, slowly forcing us together.
With a heavy grunt, Valerie landed on her side, quickly rolling to her feet. By then, both girls were tired and sweaty. Faces covered in dust and dirt, they were running out of energy. Aurelie straightened, ready to lob another fiery ball of death at Valerie before it disappeared into thin air as the smaller mage stood, bandaged hands smoking as another small blast of pure white energy shot her fingertips.
These two were going to end in another draw, that was almost guaranteed. Throughout the week long tournament the two had tied in everything, except the two-versus-two fights, which were next, and the one-on-one fights, which was now.
One more move and she could win, and break her rival's winning streak. But, Aurelie wasn't going to have that. She raised her sword once again, gloved hands gripping the handle tightly as she began to swing down, about to take her 4th consecutive win.
And thats when everything exploded.
