The Injured Artist

The steady dripping fills my ears,
Drip,
Drip,
Drip,

The color rushes down,
Drip,
Drip,
Drip,

It dilutes the water and turns it bright,
Drip,
Drip,
Drip,

If it was not for the pain,
Drip,
Drip,
Drip,

I would think it was beautiful,
Drip,
Drip,
Drip,

The dark red liquid flowing steady,
Drip,
Drip,
Drip,

Dropping into swirls of shape and splatter,
Drip,
Drip,
Drip,

Always pretty,
Drip,

Flowing slowly,

Always pretty,
Drip,

Flowing slowly,

Ever bringing pain and loss,
Drip,

But happiness when
Drip,

My paint brush glides.
