I open my eyes, and try to sit up. Pain shoots up through my ribs and down my legs. My head is reeling, it hurts so badly.
"Ugh." I groan, and force myself to sit up. I'm starving, and I realized I didn't get my meal today. I slowly drag myself up the stairs and knock on the door. It flies open and mother is standing there glaring at me.
"What!" She barked.
"I was, uh, just wondering if I could, uh, have my meal. I, uh, didn't have anything to eat today." I kept my eyes glue to the floor, staring at dot in the tile.
"Oh, you poor baby." I snapped my head up, she sounded sincere. In an instant, it was gone. "Cry me a freaking river! You'll eat when I give you something, not when you want it!" She pushed me back and I lost my footing. I fell down a few steps, but grabbed the end of a stair and pulled myself up. I walked back down the stairs and pulled out the piece of mirror I had hidden under a loose board. The left side of my face was bruised, and I was getting a black eye. Crap, she was careless this time! I'm going to have to think of a good lie to tell the teachers that ask what happened. Oh yeah, I don't have school tomorrow. Hopefully it'll clear up by Monday. I was so lost in thought, that I didn't even hear the door open.
"Emilie!" Someone yelled in an urgent whisper. I turned quickly and saw my sister, Isabella Marie. Everyone called her by that, but I called her Izzy.
"Izzy! What are you doing! They're going to catch you, baby girl!" Izzy is only 7, and my parents don't know that we talk, and actually love each other.
"I brought you the rest of my lunch from today. Hide the wrappers when you’re done so you don't get caught. I have to go back to my room now. I love you Emmy." Tears welled in my eyes. She reached out and hugged me. "I'm so sorry Emmy, but I have to go." A tear rolled down her cheek.
"Thank you." I whispered. "I love you too, Izzy. Go, before you get caught." She turned and inhaled deeply. I looked up and saw mother and father standing at the top of the stairs. They saw everything. "Oh no. No, no, no, no." I said under my breath. They began descending the stairs. They looked furious. If they hurt Izzy, I don't know what I'll do.
A/N**-- I got it updated(: Hopefully I'm going to update all three of my stories tomorrow.
