My alarm repetitively screeched until I finally woke up with just enough time to get ready for my last day of high school, tomorrow being the day I graduate and all of sudden new endeavors are mine. I let out a small yawn before getting out of bed and
starting my morning routine. .
I blink away tears as i put in my contacts, wishing my mom allowed me to get them in brown, but every time she gets clear, because they are the "most beautiful shade of blue Leila" my moms words echoing in my head. I decided to straighten my normal uncontrollable wavy brown mess, since I never really put forth an effort any other day I figured, why not? "Sstt damn it!" I yelp, the fresh burn making its appearance on my ear. Oh right, a reminder of why I don't ever straighten my hair.
I put on my favorite maroon blouse with my high waisted black shorts, and maroon Toms to complete my master piece. Knowing nobody would recognize my sudden sense in style. I put my make-up on in the car on the way to school, because I honestly thought it was the biggest waste of time to actually sit down in front of an actual mirror and patiently put it on.
The whole day dragged for what seemed like forever. Luckily it was my last day so it was bearable. I was so ready for a change, of scenery, and by scenery I mean new faces, new personalities, etc. My best friend Rhyan is the only real friend I've ever had through-out high school, she's the only thing ill be taking with me when I leave for Uni in the fall. Already being accepted and my dad paying for at least two years I have to go, even though I know who I'll be facing when I get there. The boys.
It's quite the story actually, Rhyan, is from Ireland, she lived there until she was 15, moving here for high school. Her mom thought an American high school experience would be a good thing for her, something about wanting her to be worldly and experience new things. We bonded faster then i ever had with anyone, especially with her accent being so strong, it made it a little difficult. She comes with baggage though, freshmen year summer I went with her to Ireland for a month and it was quite the experience, Niall Horan is her best friend, but long story short, if you ever got caught in a room with them both, you could feel that it was more. Neither of them showing it yet, I mostly tossed the ideas back in forth in my head about them ending up together some day. When I told them they just laughed in disagreement.
It wasn't until sophomore year Niall auditioned for X-factor and made it, millions of people falling all over him and the four other members of the band, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, and Liam Payne, together making One Direction. Luckily Niall wasn't one to let the fame get to his head, he handled it all too well from what I could tell by being so far away, the things he does to make sure they stay in touch was undeniably the sweetest thing ever.
They haven't been able to see each other in a really long time, helping make her decision on whether or not she attends college here or University there all the more easy. I was the one thing holding her back, and after my mistake of a relationship I couldn't wait to move so far away. Junior year Rhyan and her dad along with me and my mom flew over and got everything situated for life after high school.
The boys were touring in Australia when we went over, so she couldn't see Niall. But the world tour ended the day we graduated, and they all agreed to help us settle in once we got there.
I was a little nervous not knowing what to expect, being so far away from everything I'm used to and making a lifestyle out of it. But I pushed most of my worries aside and focused on readying myself, plus I did have a whole summer to get used to it before starting school come fall. It was a new beginning and that's exactly what I needed.
