A Town Called Mallory

Oct. 12 Monday:

"God Mallory come on! This is taking forever they're waiting downstairs and I don't want to keep them waiting!" Calie whined to her best friend, getting more impatient and angry by the second.

Shaking her head Mallory refused to take her head out of the bathtub. Holding on to the edges of the tub, sitting on her knees she began wobble. As the water from the bathtub began to leak onto the bathroom floor.

Taking a big huff of air, Calie leaned against the bathroom sink, angrily taking defeat. It was only a minute before Mallory's mother came barging in the bathroom. To see half of her only daughter's body in the bathtub.

"What the hell is going on here!" the mother spoke while rushing to her daughter.

"Oh Mallory trying to drown herself." Calie spoke, sighing out of boredom.

Mallory's mother gasped then turned to the now wet and coughing Mallory. "Why on earth would you want to do that?!" she said with shock and anger.

"I set up a double date with us and the Morris brothers" spoke Calie "and Mal then said 'she rather drown herself then go out with them' so being the stubborn person she is...." Calie trailed off gesturing to the wet Mallory, who was giving her death glares.

"Mom she set me up with Ted." said Mallory who was slowly breathing, trying to defend herself.

"Sweetie that's still not a reason to try to drown yourself as a matter of fact there is no reason to do that."
"Ha! Wanna a bet." sarcastically Mallory spoke, smirking at her mother.
With fuming anger Mallory's mother grabbed her daughter by the shoulder. She shoke her as she spoke with one hand and used her other to point at her, shaking her finger.

"Now you listen to me young lady this is no joking matter you've could of died and over what!?"

Mallory rolled her eyes and let a sigh.

"A date with a nice guy, who is charming and comes from a good family. Now what's so bad about that? Nothing! Now how do you think the poor boy will feel hearing that you tried to drown yourself over a date with him. What do you think he'll think about that?"

Mallory rolled her eyes then took her mothers hand off her "I think he'll think 'Hey maybe she doesn't like me' and then leave me alone." Mallory said giving her mom her signature smirk.

"You know what Mallory I'm tired of your attitude! You are going on that double date! Now go dry and change into something decent. Do I make myself clear young lady?"

Mallory let out a long sigh of frustration.

"Mallory Claire-Marie Jones do I make myself clear!" shouted out Mallory's mother.

"Yes mom!" now being Mallory's turn to shout.

"Good." said Mallory's mother as she clapped her hands together "Now I'm going downstairs to let the boys know that you two will be little bit late." and with that she left.

Mallory turned to her now laughing friend "This woman I swear. I almost die then I get trouble then sent on a date!" Calie trying to catch her breath "Well this isn't the first time you did this so I'm pretty sure sympathy is gone."

Mallory rolled her eyes and huffed in defeat "Yeah whatever." Calie grabbed her friend by the arm "Oh come on cheer up. We have a date to get ready for." "Yeah but with Ted and Zack." Mallory said with disgust.

Calie giggled "Yes Ted and Zack who are cute, shy, funny nerds. Now let's go."
