A Town Called Mallory

Oct. 14 Wednesday:

Mallory was at the beach. She was sitting on a rock just watching the waves crash onto the shore. Mallory was having a nice time, that was until Ted showed up.

It has been to days since Mallory and Calie's double date with Zack and Ted. The date went somewhat well for the two girls but not well enough for Mallory to have any interest for Ted.

"Having fun?" Ted asked while standing in front of Mallory.

"I was until you showed up." Mallory answered with a grim smile. Ted laughing nervously "So umm.....I had fun on the date and was wondering if you'd like to do that again.....you know without Calie and Zack?"

By now Mallory was getting annoyed with Ted. She let out a deep sign, then gave Ted a stern look. "Teddy listen I'm here just enjoying myself then you come asking me out, making everything awkward. Why would you do that Teddy? Why?"

"Well I had fun on our date and-"

Mallory let out aloud sigh, interrupting Ted.

"I thought we had a connection." Ted said while rolling his eyes at Mallory's rudeness.

"Well I don't, so no."

"Come on, one date?"

"Ted no. Why won't you take no as an answer?" said Mallory who was slowly losing her temper.

"Fine." Ted said sighing in defeat. Putting his hands in his pockets, just swaying back in forward.

"You know you're the only person who's called me Teddy."

"Shocker!" Mallory while letting out a fake gasp.

Ted laughed a little "I'm serious."

Mallory looked up at Ted "Not even your mom or brother?"

"Nope." Ted said popping the 'p'.

"Well that's weird but expected from a town like this." Ted gave Mallory a confused look. "A town like what?" he asked "A town where everything is formal, boring and depressing." Ted shook his head while laughing. "It's so formal that no one calls you Teddy." Mallory said giving Ted a friendly smile.

For awhile they were just in silence. Ted admiring Mallory and Mallory watching the waves, forgetting that Ted was there. All was calm then Mallory noticed Ted creepily looking at her.

"Why are you still here?" she said while patting the rock next to her for Ted to sit on. " Why are you here?" Ted repeated her question. Mallory playfully rolled her eyes at Ted before answering the question.

"Well I'm here because it's a nice out, you know enjoying the weather. And I like watching the ocean, it's calming."

Ted smiled at Mallory, then took a look at his surroundings. 'It is nice out' he thought. It was cool breezy day. The sun was covered by gray clouds. Ted knew it was a beautiful sight but not as beautiful as the girl sitting right next to him. A girl who he was madly in love with since the third grade. At first it nothing but an innocent crush but as they got older the crush developed into something more.

In middle school he noticed her personality. The way she acted and thought. For Ted at the time, he was only attracted to her because she was different.
By high school that crush developed into love. For he loved her, both mind and body.

Ted sat by Mallory just enjoying being this close to her as a idea popped in his head.

"Hey Mallory can I tell you a secret?"

"No but you can go away."

"Come on, I know you like secrets." Ted said nudging his elbow at Mallory.

Mallory easily gave in.

"What's your secret?" she asked with boredom in her voice.

"I have a friend who gave me these pills that makes you see strange things and feel like cloud nine." Ted said reaching through his left pocket and pulling out the bottle of pills. Mallory looked at Ted with wide eyes.

"So drugs?"

Ted now looking at Mallory with wide eyes "Well....I...guess"

"All right I'm down." Mallory said shrugging her shoulders

"Really?"

"Sure. Not like I got anything better to do."

Mallory took the bottle from Ted's hands. She twisted the cap open and popped the pill in her mouth. "Don't you want some water or something?" Ted said with concern "Nah I'm good."
It only took a minute for the pills to kick and when it did all hell broke loose for Mallory. If people were to walk by they would see Mallory with her eyes closed laughing like a mad women.

The pills had Mallory hallucinating the strangest things. She saw herself standing in the dark with a bunch hands clapping and shaking hands with the other hands. To her it was the funniest thing on earth.

Weird. Just strange really.

Ted used Mallory's drugged up state to his advantage.

"Fun huh?"

"Yesssss! Sooo much fun!"

"So will you go up with me?"

"Sure Teddy bear!" Mallory said laughing while clutching her stomach.

Ted started to laugh along with her. He was happy because his plan was a success. He landed himself a date while Mallory got high by the beach.
