I'm just about to send someone to go see if Austin's okay when he and Axel come out of the school together.
"Guys! Can we stop practice for a sec? Axel and I need to tell you all something!" Austin calls over to us.
"Yeah, sure!" I answer. I wonder what they need to tell us.
They walk down and the whole team sits down on the bleachers.
"Look, some of you might get creeped out by what we are about to tell you or even grossed out, but Axel and I hope that you will support us." Austin says. His lips trembling. I can tell that he and Axel are both pretty nervous about what they're going to tell us.
"Austin, Axel, we're a team and I don't know about the others but I'm behind you guys every step of the way, no matter what you tell us!" I say.
"Yeah!" The team echoes.
"Okay, here goes nothing..." Austin says as he looks at Axel.
"Axel and I... We're gay... And we... We love each other..." Austin says. He closes his eyes, waiting for a response. Axel takes his hand.
The team is silent for a minute and then we all cheer. We all group around Axel and Austin and hug them.
"Wait, what!?" Austin asks, surprised. He and Axel are both smiling.
"We know how much courage that must have taken." Jude says. We all nod in agreement.
"And I still support you guys every step of the way!" I cheer. Then we all cheer.
...
After practice, the whole team heads out for dinner, even Austin.
We sure do have a lot to celebrate.
