"Gracias," the woman smiled as I handed her books. She had just bought three books that I recommended to her. She was a regular customer and she had returned to buy more.

It was just another day at work. It was never really busy here at the book store, people didn't really read books anymore. They preferred to use their phones to read something. As an English literature major at a nearby university, I loved books.

Books were fascinating, they encouraged me to imagine and create beautiful things in my mind. It kept me alive and hopeful, and not to mention it occupied my free time.

When the store isn't busy and there's no one shopping, I take the time myself to catch up on books. Ms. Colton, the owner of the shop, allowed me to do so. Ms. Colton was a 68 year-old woman from Sydney, Australia. She moved here to Spain to live with her Spanish husband.

She was a kind woman and luckily for me, she spoke English.

Living in Spain, I get mixed up with accents and the whole vosotros thing and it's all very different. My parents are from the country El Salvador, but of course they traveled up north to find the American Dream. Unexpectedly they also found themselves pregnant, with me.

I happened to be born in Phoenix, Arizona.

My dad used to read to me all the time which sprouted my love for books I guess.

I was in the middle of reading the book How to Kill a Mocking Bird. It was my eighth time reading it.

"How's business?" Ms. Colton greeted to me as she walked in the store.

"Slow," I confessed, letting out a big irritated sigh.

"Why am I not surprised? I just picked up more books from my last order. Are you going to read them all this time Andrea?" She joked.

I let out a laugh, "No not this time. I have studies to do right now and I'm also reading this one again, I don't have time to read other books." I held up the Harper Lee book.

"Sugar can you do me a nice favor and pick up the load?" She asked. I nodded. I left the counter and went back to the street where her truck was parked outside. I picked up the box from the back and carried it inside. "Put it in the back darling," she told me.

I did what she asked for and took it to the back of the store. I took a black sharpie and wrote NEW ORDER on the box.

I went back to the front of the store where the counter was.

A woman walked into the store and she came up to me, "Disculpe, estoy aquí para recoger a mi libro. Se le llama el Great Gatsby." She was there to pick up a book.

"Dame un minuto," I told her. I went to one of the aisles to find the book. I found the book but when I grabbed it, I saw a man between the cracks of some books. It caught me off guard a little.

He was sitting down, reading.

I found myself staring at this mysterious man who I have never seen before. He was reading outside in our court where there was chairs so people could sit.

My goodness he was really handsome.

"Andrea!" Ms. Colton yelled really loud. It caused the man outside the look towards my direction.

I quickly ducked down and dropped the book like a clutz. Great, Andrea, you big clumsy nerd, you're causing such a ruckus! Get yourself together.

I sighed and grabbed the book, "Coming!"
