Chicago, Illinois. The windy city. What on earth are we doing here.
We drove into an abandoned warehouse of a sort. During the drive I was able to calm my mind and not think of the worst case scenario. Stefan wouldn't let Klaus lay a finger on me, because I was hopeful that he hasn't changed from being with Klaus for a short amount of time. Being in a car with Klaus I was able to channel how terrified I was, to how much I hated him. Even being seated by Stefan was alarming and I couldn't understand why. He's not the same Stefan I met, after hearing what he's been up to it's a little frightening sitting in the same car with these two men. I just couldn't show the fear that was running through me, every inch of me was dying inside sitting a confined car with the man that killed my aunt and random men who i'm almost sure could be vampires or are compelled. I watched helplessly as the screen on my phone lit up and my heart dropped. Damon has called over 12 times while we sat in the car and no matter how much I want to reach out to answer his call, I couldn't with Klaus's henchman looking over it every minute.
Klaus opened the door letting himself through with Stefan falling behind, a man at the end of the door stares at me with no emotion. I sighed when I realized I couldn't wait in here forever, I slid out of my seat and follow behind Stefan closely.
"What are we doing here?" Stefan asks.
"I know how much you loved it here, bringing back memories of the good old ripper days."
"Blacked out most of them. Lot of blood, lot of partying." A shiver ran down my spine at the words of Stefan. "Details are all a blur."
I look over the Stefan's shoulder to get a peak of the view they were looking at, it was breath taking to say the least. I've never been to Chicago and under the circumstances i'm in, I would have rather been at the pond by the house instead of being here. I peak over at Klaus who was at a reasonable distance from me, I count in my head absentmindedly the tall skyscrapers that were set in front of me.
"Chicago was magical." Klaus took s couple steps back, close enough that I could reach my hand out and touch him.
Stefan notices the close distance between us and pushes himself of the wall he was leaning against. "Yeah, well I can take your word for it. Like I said I don't remember much of it." He stood in between us, trying not to raise any assumptions from Klaus. "Why am I still with you? We had our fun, your hybrids failed. I mean don't you want to move on."
"Come on we're going to see my favorite witch, if anyone could help us with our hybrid problem it's her." Klaus slides into the car without another word. I sigh looking up at Stefan who looked a bit worried himself. He pats my shoulder and nods his head towards the car. My heart beat quickened when Stefan touched my shoulder, this was the first time in months that I've had any physical contact with him. My mind pondered on how just one touch affected me, and how much Elena misses it at the moment.
During the summer she would spend some nights cuddled up in Stefan's bed, looking through the simplest things that belonged to him. She would bring me a long the nights Damon wasn't home, where he would take off to look for clues as too where Stefan could be. Those nights I would spend in Damon's room. I couldn't spend the night in Stefan's room with Elena's grieving face the entire night, she didn't cry for him at night though, it was just clear to me that the thoughts running through her mind were all about Stefan. Even if she tried to hide it, it was almost impossible for her to hide the fact that the only thing that would bother her throughout the day wasn't the fact that we would have ran out of her favorite cereal or if her bio teacher passed her on the test. No, it was Stefan. Even if he tried to push it off through the summer while Damon was searching for him, she couldn't. From the short time I've known Stefan, I know he's someone I can trust, but I didn't spend my summer grieving over his disappearance.
