Ran walked in his slippers, yawning and scratching the back of his head. His hair was still damp from the shower, loosely tied back. He wore his usual oversized shirt but was missing his pajama pants.

He knocked on Rindou's door. "Rin, you got my pajama bottoms again?"

Ran frowned when he got no answer and knocked again, this time louder. "Rindou."

The door creaked open.

Rindou's eyes were puffy and red. He avoided Ran's eyes completely. He grabbed a pair of folded pajama pants from behind the door and shoved them into Ran's chest.

Before Ran could even ask anything, the door slammed shut again and locked. He stood frozen in place. "...What the fuck?"

Still holding his pajamas, he made his way to the kitchen. Wisteria was drying a plate while Rui was rinsing another one beside her.

"Mama. Rui. Did either of you fight with Rindou or something?"

Wisteria raised her brow. "No. Why?"

Rui glanced at her brother. "Um, he was already like that when he came home."

"He didn't talk about anything?"

Wisteria and Rui shook their head.

Ran stared down at the pajama pants in his hands for a moment before tossing them over his shoulder and walking out of the kitchen with a sigh.

After a while, the house had gone quiet.

Wisteria and Rui had returned home a while ago, waving goodbyes as Ran saw them off. "Take care."

As soon as the door shut behind them, his expression sobered. Ran's eyes lingered on the empty hallway, before turning around and walking toward Rindou's room. He didn't bother knocking. He just sank down and sat on the floor, leaning his back against the door. A quiet thud echoed as his shoulder made contact.

"I know you're behind the door," Ran spoke up.

Silence.

"You know you can tell me anything, right?" His tone softened a little.

Still no reply.

He sighed. "I mean, yeah, I've been a shitty brother this year. I know that. But that doesn't mean you can't rely-"

"...Nothing will change." Rindou's voice finally came, muffled through the door.

"Keep going," Ran encouraged gently.

There was a small pause.

"Y/n made up her mind."

Ran froze at that revelation. His head fell back lightly against the door. "...Oh."

Inside the room, Rindou was curled up on the floor, knees pulled tight to his chest, head buried into the crook of his arm. His fingers dug into his own sleeves.
