Rindou's headphones hummed with throb of bass. He stood still in the elevator, and his school bag slung over one shoulder. His eyes fixed on the rising floor numbers.

Today felt long and dull. He hadn't touched his lunch and couldn't even enjoy the normal banter with Ran in the morning.

Because today was the day you promised to give your answer...on who you loved.

Ding.

The elevator doors slid open, and Rindou stepped out, dragging his feet as he walked into the luxurious apartment.

"I'm back," Rindou called as he tugged off his headphones and slung them around his neck. "Rindou~!" Ran's voice immediately echoed through the living space.

Before Rindou could react, his older brother appeared and swept him into an annoyingly tight hug, ruffling his hair with one hand. "My baby brother's back! Finally! I missed you~" he cooed, leaning in as he was about to plant a kiss on Rindou's cheek.

"Oi-back off," Rindou scowled, twisting away and smacking Ran's hand aside, ears burning. Ran pouted, eyes wide and glossy. "You never let me smooch you anymore. You used to love it when we were kids, you know."

Rindou's face flushed deeper. "I'm not a kid anymore," he muttered, brushing past Ran and setting his bag down by the couch.

Ran giggled. "Yeah, yeah."

But Rindou didn't respond. His back was turned, and his gaze fixed out the window, even though he wasn't really looking at the skyline. He reached up and pulled his headphones back on, the noise dulling Ran's voice. He needed the music.

It was the only thing keeping his thoughts from running too far ahead.

Rindou felt the couch dip slightly. He kept his eyes on the outside, pretending not to notice, until Ran reached over and plucked the headphones from his ears.

"What the hell-" Rindou started, glaring.

"Go take a shower and dress nice," Ran instructed, grinning suspiciously. "We're going out."

The little brother raised a brow. "Out where?"

"Clubbing!" the older brother declared, throwing his arms up. "We're partying tonight!"

"...Are we celebrating something?" Rindou asked flatly, voice tinged with suspicion. Ran brushed off his suspicion with a laugh. "Nah. Just vibin'. Enjoying life."

Rindou stared at him for a second, reading the exaggerated smile and glint in his brother's eyes. Something was definitely up. But before he could question it, Ran delivered the final blow, "Oh, and I invited Shion too."

That cracked through Rindou's indifferent exterior. He tried to play it cool, but he was terrible at it. His eyes lit up before he could even suppress the reaction. He clicked his tongue and looked away.
