10. Healing is boring

We were all forced to rest in the infirmary for two days. Even Kyle, who was the only one who could stand without help, was forced to rest with us. Lisanna and Mirajane brought us food and kept us from killing each other. Mama and Papa were out with Erza and Natsu, hunting down Blue Cobra. Master Laxus came in once to check on us. We were in the middle of a fight, too. 

"C'mon lovebirds, just crawl in the same bed!" Lexi teased.

"I swear if you don't shut up, Lexi, I'm going to freeze your next meal," I shouted back. Simon was relaxing, reading a magazine on new requip techniques. Kyle was on Lexi's side.

"Oh, you know you want to Kk," Kyle teased. 

"You shut up too!" I yelled back. I chucked a pillow across the room at him, when the door opened revealing the master. The pillow hit him and he just stood there. He nodded slowly as we sat in perfect silence.

"Obviously, you're all getting better. I just came in to check on you. As soon as you guys get out, we're going to have a party. Cana's already started drinking as much beer as she can as an excuse," he told us. 

"Thank you Master," Lexi told him. She beamed at him lovingly. It was only natural, as he was her Uncle being married to Mira and all. The door burst open loudly and a 15 year old with long white hair in a ponytail and glasses came in. 

"Lexi! Get out of that bed and be a woman!" she yelled. 

"Shut up, Kass! Didn't Aunt Ever send you off on some camp?" Lexi asked.

"I got back this morning to hear you got your butt kicked by some dark guild. That's not manly!" 

"Why don't you go talk about that stuff with Uncle Elf?" Lexi suggested. Kass crossed her arms. She looked around the infirmary and noticed Kyle. She stared at him for a minute before turning on her heel and walking out. 

"I think she likes you," Lexi said. Kyle nearly jumped out of the bed.

"WHAT!?" he demanded. Simon chuckled lightly, still reading his magazine. I grinned predatory at Kyle. 

"Yeah Kyle. She liiiiiiikes you," I said. 

"Don't try and be like Happy!" Kyle yelled at me. I smirked and rolled over onto my side. Lexi kept teasing Kyle. I was glad she had chosen a new target. I closed my eyes and fell asleep.

When I woke up, Mama and Papa were back. They were talking with Kyle. I groggily rubbed my eyes and sat up. It felt weird not having any dreams the past couple of days and I knew it was because Akio had taken my necklace. Papa noticed that I was awake and came over to me.

"How are you feeling?" he asked. 

"I want to get out of this room," I answered. He laughed lightly. 

"I spent many days in this room myself," he said. He handing me something and I grinned. It was my necklace.

"Where'd you get it?" I asked. 

"We found Akio and brought him in. He had it on him when he was searched. Mama recognized it as yours," Papa explained. I held it in my hand, debating whether I wanted to put it on or not. Because of it, Akio was able to find me. I just clutched it in my hand tightly. Mama came over and hugged me. 

"I know I can't stop you, but I don't want you going out on these missions anymore. I can't stand to see my baby girl get hurt like this," she told me. I hugged her back and smiled.

"You're one to talk Mama. From what you've told me, you were going on dangerous missions and getting hurt all the time," I replied. Mama laughed.

"I know and that's why I won't stop you." Mama pulled back and sat on my bed. "So, the rumor is you and Simon are finally together." She grinned at me. I grinned back. Papa looked over to Simon, who had tensely slightly. He was still reading that magazine of his. 

"Once you guys get better, me and Simon might have to have a little talk," Papa said, making sure he was looking at Simon. 

"Yes sir," Simon told him, looking up from his magazine only briefly. Mama put a hand on Papa's shoulder. 

"Of course we're very happy that it's Simon," Mama said, with a smile. I smiled back. Papa enveloped me in a hug and kissed the top of my head. 

"I was scared that I'd lost you, Kk," Papa whispered. I hugged him back. Mama joined the hug and we sat like that. 

"Hey! I wanna join the family hug!" Kyle complained across the room.

"Well then walk over here," I yelled at him. He stood and jumped on my bed in the hug. Me and Mama giggled, but it felt so right like this. Our whole family together.

The next day, we were finally allowed out of the infirmary and the biggest party I had ever seen was put on for us. Cana was drinking, me and Lexi were fighting, and Simon was my shadow the whole night. I found that I instinctively would reach my hand back to grab his if I couldn't sense him nearby anymore. His hand always met mine. It was warm and inviting and I loved the feel of it. True to his word, Papa had a talk with Simon and they both came back smiling and uninjured. I was glad that Me and Simon were able to be like this. So close to each other and our families. It just made it feel all the better when we slipped off into a corner to be alone.
