Metal mouth

Chapter 1: the beginning

It was summer 3014. By far this was the hottest day of the summer, and of course instead of spending the day by the pool we have to sit in the hot sticky car and go pick up my dad from the airport because he had yet another business trip. So I woke up early to get ready.Little did I know, but the events of that day would change the course of history forever. Unfortunately for us we lived about as far away from the airport as you can get, so we will probably be in the car all day "Gail" screeched my mother, come on get in the car !"Just a second" I say as I finally finish brushing my hair it takes forever because it's so long . It's a pain sometimes but I love my hair it's a nice Carmel brown color and when it hit the sun it shimmers. "Gail are you day dreaming again?" Said mother."No" I said. "We'll then get your ass in this car we don't have time for this!"she said. "Be right there," and so I dreadfully walked to the oven we call a car and hopped inside. It's like a million years old and smells like rotten garbage and crap. And of course the air conditioning wasn't working today, lucky me. My mom puts the key in the ignition and the car starts to choke . Finally the choking stops and we pull to the end of the driveway and turn onto the road to begin our journey. Mr. Porter my ninth grade history teacher used to show us old movies from like the 2000's, and in the ones that talk about the future always have cool gadgets and gizmos or flying cars but to be honest the future kinda sucks. I mean to me it's not the future but to someone from the 2000's it is .I wish we had a flying car even if it was hot and sticky, it's still a flying car. Even if they did have flying cars our family would never be able to afford one. In fact I don't think anyone could. Everyone everywhere is poor and even if your rich there's barely any food. I was watching the news yesterday and they were doing this whole story on it. Governor sticks said it was just a drought and it would be over soon, I mean I guess that makes sense but what do I know? After that story they focused on the homeless people. They are everywhere. I may not be rich, but I am glad to at least have some money. There's always people starving and out on the streets. There are a lot of soup kitchens and homeless shelters around but they must not be enough. I've heard that if you go into a shelter you never come out. I know that's not true though a kid named Josh Henderson was telling little kids that during school one day. He's a major jerk. Maybe one day I can open up my own shelter. "Beep Beep Beep Beep." All of the sudden my mom starts honking the horn obnoxiously. "What are you..." But then I see it. The cars on the road are packed literally bumper to bumper. We were close to the air port but it was going to be a while before we got there with traffic like this. My little brother started crying because he had to pee and my little sister started crying because she hates Loud noises. Trying to get over the honking, crying, and heat I poke my head out the window and look ahead, and I see something. It's just a shiny glare coming from up ahead. I can't make out exactly what it is yet but it seems to be getting closer. It could just be the sun reflecting off a car, but it seemed to small. Then there was another one, and another one, and another one. There had to be at least a dozen by now. "Hey mom check this out" I said. "Didn't anyone ever tell you not to distract the driver?" Said mother, and following her up Caleb and Clair said "Ya G didn't anyone ever tell you?" "Will you just take a look, It's not like your going anytime soon." She looked out the window and said "ow, what the hell is that I just got freakin blinded." "Did you see what I was?" I asked? "All I saw was a nasty glare and a butt whoopin for you in the future for makin me look out that window." The glare had to be a mile away maybe a little less when I first saw it but now it's a lot closer and the sun will be setting soon so I will be able to get a better look. There were way more than a dozen now. After ten minutes we had moved about ten inches, oh wait I'm exaggerating it was actually five. I was looking up the road again when I saw something strange really strange. People were getting out of their cars. They were getting out of the cars and running as fast as they could. Why on earth would people be getting out of their cars? Something had to be wrong. " mother" I said. "What Gail ?" She said as she rolled her eyes. She thinks I didn't notice but I saw her in the mirror. "Something's wrong we need to get out of the car now." I said "Are you out of your mind?Why on earth would I get out of my car?" She said. "Because other people are just look!" I said panicking. "Uh uh there is no way I am lookin out that window again." She said. "Then don't just look right in front of you!" I said, growing impatient. She looks out the window and says "My God." Then there was a flood of people around our car screaming bloody murder at the top of there lungs. Everyone panicked especially mother. Caleb and Clair started crying. "We need to get out of here!" screamed mother. She tried to open the door but there were so many people she couldn't. The windows were all the way down so that we didn't die of heat. I unbuckled Caleb from his car seat set him on Clair's lap. I waited for a clearing in the rush of people, then I grabbed the bottom of the rolled down window and waited for a clear spot, the I swung my legs through and jumped out real quickly . I grabbed the handle to mothers door and swung it open. I pulled her out. "What the hell are you doin?" She said. "Saving your ass" I said. I pulled Clair through the window. I never realized how heavy she was. "What's going on?" She asked. "I... I don't know" I said, "but I need you to get on my back ok?" "Ok." She said. Then I went back to the window to grab Caleb as I was reaching in I accidentally rubbed my arm on the outside of the car, which of course was metal and I freakin burnt me. "Awe crap." I yelled, but it didn't matter because I had to get him out of there I held him in my arms as I bent down to let Clair climb on my back. She hopped on and I started to run, but when I looked next to me mother wasn't there."mother? Mother!" I cried.franticly I looked around and finally I spotted her. She was still by the car. Her eyes were locked in an enticing gaze. But I couldn't see what she was looking at . She was just frozen. I ran back to her and grabbed her hand holding Caleb with one arm,"mother we need to go!" I said. She didn't say anything but trembling she lifted he hand and began to point at something. It was near the end if the sunset and my question to what the Shiny glares were was finally answered.except not in the way I expected because it wasn't a what question anymore it was a who. I looked in the direction that my mother had pointed to and what I saw was absolutely horrific. There was a group of people, but they weren't ordinary people they were wearing all black from the neck down the only things that were visible were their heads. Their heads were completely bald with nothing but tattoos of symbols that I didn't recognize. But the most distinguishing characteristic was that all of their teeth were completely made of metal. Sharpened to a broad point. Then In that moment I witnessed the utterly despicable acts of these metal mouthed monsters. There was a man still in his car. One of the metal mouths opened it and pulled the man out.Clair couldn't see because my back was in the way but I cupped my hand and covered Caleb's eyes I didn't her the mouths say anything but I saw the man pull out his wallet he gave it to one of the mouths then his watch and everything else he had in his pockets. A watch, some keys and what looked like his wallet.The metal mouthed man smiled a grim and chilling smile as he threw the items to the ground. I think he said something but I couldn't tell. Then the metal mouthed man leaned in slowly and licked the mans neck obsessively and after a few times it happened. The metal man bit a chunk right out if that poor poor mans neck. He bit him. I felt sick. The metal man didn't stop there he kept going. Biting and biting. The man was screaming I wanted to cover my ears but I had to hold caleb and keep covering his eyes. I wanted to run but I couldn't I was paralyzed, frozen. I couldn't turn around or else Clair would see. She would see red hot blood gushing everywhere .I never stopped to think and to notice that he never spit it out. Then I watched as the man with a mouth of metal took the now lifeless body and slammed it to the ground as if it were nothing. It was so far away but it still felt as if I could her the thud. I vomited and vomited ,and vomited again.The metal mouthed man leaped to the top of the car and roared a terrible roar. The blood dried to his face already because of the heat his red teeth opened super wide. It was like a scene from a horror movie. It was happening all over. People being killed. There was no time to run. "Get in the car."I Screamed. But my mother was still frozen. I grabbed her hand and yanked it as hard as I could I dragged her to the car and I put Caleb and Clair in her lap she was in no condition to drive. Im not old enough to drive yet but my dad used to let me drive the car in the parking lot sometimes. I started the car it choked and then finally it started. With what little space I had I backed up and pulled off the road. I didn't care where we went, just as long as it was away from here. I drove into an empty field pushing down on the gas petal as hard as I could. We were very far away now but not far enough I just kept driving. My mother was still in shock, and so was I. I heard a really loud noise. so loud that it hurt my ears, I actually think that my ears were bleeding. Thats when I saw airplanes and jets flying overhead. It made me realize the gravity of the situation, the horrible truth, the road was being bombed.It was gut wrenching. listening to the sound of each drop. knowing that in an instant thousands of people will be dead, but that is if they are not dead already. Just listening to it made me vomit, but I couldn't slow down to barf out the window so I swallowed it, which made me vomit again only this time all over the car. All those people. Those innocent, and good people dead. It was probably quick and painless. Better than being eaten a live, but death never should have come the're way in the first place, and it almost came our way. I keep driving till I see a road up ahead. It's filled with police cars and ambulances. I drive there as fast as I can. I pull over and get out of the car. I hadn't noticed how disoriented I was. My nose was bleeding.There was a horrible ringing in my ears which were now bleeding. I stumbled and almost fell but a police officer catches me. He asks me my name and address, I manage to say Gail, Gail Wilson, 1447 Maple drive. Then I fall to the ground and everything goes dark.
