~Lillian Pov~
Over the past few weeks, I've gotten to know the best three people that will ever exist.
Laney and I are the closest friends you will ever meet and we tell each other everything.
Cam and I are flower buddies and I help him out sometimes in his shop.
Hiro and I are close friends as well. We go to the library and read cooking books and spend time at the tea house.
These three people are the most important people to me right now, and I couldn't ask for anything else.
~
I was having a wonderful dream. Though... I kept hearing someone talking and it bothered me because I didn't know who it was.
"Lillian...? Are you awake? Get up!"
I quickly woke up and saw Laney at the end of my bed looking at me.
"What...?" I grumble at her still half asleep.
"Don't you remember...?" Laney looked at me seriously. "You are meant to help out at the café today." She sighed heavily as I just sat there.
"Oh! Right!!" I sprinted out of bed and into the shower. I had the quickest shower possible, while still managing to get clean.
I jumped out of the shower and put on my regular outfit.
"Ok Laney. One second!" I said putting on my boots and dashing outside.
I ran over to the barn.
"Morning girl..." I say to Akari yawning. "So sorry I'm late..." I scrub her down and quickly milk her. I push her outside into her pasture and quickly dash over the fence over to the chicken coop.
"Morning Mellow. Sorry for the delay." I quickly pick her up and place her outside into her pen. I gather her egg and rush back inside to Laney, who was sitting at the dining table.
"I'm so sorry Laney!" I say putting the milk and egg into the fridge.
"Eh, no problem." Laney said giving me a small smile. "Lets just go now ok?" She said rushing outside.
As we entered the café, Howard greeted us.
"Hello girls!" He smiled. "You're finally here!" He chuckled as he looked over to me.
"Sorry..." I said looking down at my feet with embarrassment. "I lost track of time and slept in." I continuted to stare at the ground.
"It's ok dearie!" He smiled gently. "You must of been tired from all that work on the farm anyway!" He looked at us both. "Come on! We've got a lot of work today!" Howard quickly said clapping his hands.
We had a big order to fill today. Lots of people wanted cakes for no perticular reason.
I was taking care of my pretty chocolate cake when Cam walked in.
"Hey guys." He sighed and walked in.
"What's wrong Cam?" Howard said looking very concerned at Cam.
"Not feeling well..." He grumbled and looked up to see that I was standing there.
He gave me a gentle smile. "Lillian... You have something on your face."
"Wha...?" I tried to see what was on my face but Cam beat me to it.
"Haha I got it." He put his smooth fingers on my face and scraped the icing off my face and licked it off his fingers.
"You make nice cakes Lillian." He walked off to his room leaving me there standing in shock with my face burning red like an idiot.
"Is your cake ready?" Howard said looking up from the kitchen.
"Yep!" I say quickly picking up my chocolate cake I had made. I handed over to Howard.
"Thank you dearie!" He smiled.
I looked around the room. Where was Laney?
"Do you know where Laney is Howard?" I say looking at him with concern.
"Well..." He sighed and looked at me. "She's had some problems lately, and she hasn't been telling anyone... So she usually goes to the river to calm down." Howard breathed heavily and returned to work.
"I'll be back, I'll just try to find her." I say rushing out of the store.
I rush out of town to the riverbank. I see Laney sitting down next to the river poking at the water with a stick.
"Laney..." I say walking slowly up to her.
"Lillian... I..." She looked up at me with sadness.
"Hey it's ok..." I sit down next to her. "You know if anything is troubling you, feel free to tell me." I put my hand around her and hug her tightly.
"I know..." She sniffs and looks at me, tears in her eyes.
"But..." She stammered. "Would you still be my friend...?" She looked like she was about to ball her eyes out.
"Of course! Even if you were secretly planing to kill me I would!" I laugh as she seems to smile.
"Thank you Lillian." She hugs me tighter. "I'll tell you later I promise."
"Alright then." I leave the hug and sit up looking at the sky.
"Do you want to go back now?" I ask calmly.
"Ok." Laney replies rubbing her nose. I help her up and we slowly start heading back to the café.
As we enter the café, Howard gives me a stern look.
"Lillian, I don't want to sound like a pain, but I have a job for you." Howard sighs deeply and grabs a cake box.
"Could you take this over to the clinic in Konohana? They are having some party or something today and they need it ASAP." Howard hands me over the box with the cake that I made earlier.
"Yeah of course!" I smile as I take the box from his hands.
"You take care, ok?" I look over to Laney reassuringly.
"Yeah I will." She smiles as I leave the café.
I quickly run back to my farm, with the cake still firmly in my hands. I run into the barn. There, I saw my horse AppleJack. You see, after the fall, Sen suffered great damage and isn't going to be able to be ridden for a while, so Georgia gave me a new horse. I do feel kind of bad about it, but I know she is in great care.
"Come on girl, we gotta go to Konohana!" I take her outside and strap her to the cart and put a saddle on her. I safely secure the cake as best as I can in the cart, and jump onto AppleJack.
"Let's make this quick." I say as AppleJack starts to trot out of the farm.
When we reached Konohana, I tied AppleJack to the tree outside the clinic and took the cake from the cart. Luckily, it wasn't damaged.
"Hello...?" I say quietly opening the door.
"Oh! You're just in time Lillian!" Dr. Ayame calls out from behind the desk.
"I am...?" I reply with much confusion.
"Yes! You see, Hiro did very well in his Doctor's exam, so I wanted to celebrate his success with a surprise party!" Dr. Ayame replied giggling.
"Oh well then I am right on time!" I smile and hand her over the cake. I place my jacket on the coat rack.
"Brilliant!" Dr. Ayame exclaims as she takes the cake out of the box and places it on the table.
Suddenly, we heard the front doorknob slowly start to turn.
"Quick! Turn the lights off!" Dr. Ayame hissed.
I quickly turned of the lights and hid behind a bookshelf.
The door slowly opened, and a confused looking Hiro standed at the door way.
He flicked the light switch.
"SURPRISE!!" Dr. Ayame and I shouted in unison.
Hiro's facial expression was a mixture of confusion and utter happiness.
"You... What... Is this...?" Hiro stuttered as he looked around the decorated room.
"It's a surprise party!" Dr. Ayame said smiling.
"For you!" I chimed in sweetly.
"But... You didn't-"
"Oh but we did." Dr. Ayame chuckled. "Well lets eat some cake!" She laughed as she went upstairs to grab a knife.
"You... Made this cake for me?" Hiro looked deep into my eyes.
"Yeah... But it was nothing..." I shrugged and looked back up at him.
"...Thank you Lillian."
"It was no trouble-"
"You didn't let me finish." Hiro said looking deeper and deeper into my eyes. What I didn't notice was that my face was starting to slowly burn from embarrassment. But he didn't seem to notice and he kept staring into my eyes.
"Thank you Lillian, for everything." He gave me a gentle smile.
"What... Do you mean...?" I look into his eyes with confusion. His big brown eyes just seem to stare back at me calmly.
"For visiting us that day you came to Konohana. For becoming my friend. For getting to know me..."
He slowly moved in closer.
"...And for coming into my life..." He smiled and leaned in to kiss me. My face burned hot with embarrassment and this time it was noticeable. But suddenly, Dr. Ayame started to come down the stairs. Hiro moved away quickly and I tried to hide my embarrassment.
"Ugh I finally found a good cake knife!" Dr. Ayame chuckled as she came down the stairs.
"Now we can finally eat some of this delicious cake!" Hiro smiled at Dr. Ayame. I couldn't say anything as I was still in shock of what just happened.
Dr. Ayame started to cut the cake. She cut a slice and gave the first piece to Hiro. Then, she cut a piece for me, and herself.
"Dig in!" I say laughing. Well, it's better then saying nothing and just standing there looking awkward.
"It looks delicious Lillian." Dr. Ayame smiles at me.
We just stand there, in absolute silence, as we eat cake.
"So... Does this mean you have become a full-fledged doctor?" I look over to Hiro and then quickly look back at my cake.
"Sadly, no." In the corner of my eye I see Hiro looking very disappointed.
"I have a lot more training to do." Hiro quietly put the clean plate on the table.
"Well that was delicious Lillian!" Hiro looked at me and smiled.
"Yes Lillian." Dr. Ayame put her plate down. "It's was very good!" She giggled and took the plates and leftover cake upstairs.
"Don't leave me!" I thought to myself. But it was too late.
"Well... Congratulations." I smile at Hiro.
"Thank you Lillian. I know my parents would be proud..." Hiro sighed and sits on one of the examination beds.
"I know they would." I sit down on the bed across from him.
"You made them proud." I smile as his face seemed to brighten up.
"Well... I should be getting back to the café now..." I sigh and get up from the bed.
"Wait!" Hiro grabs my arm as I try and leave. I turn around and face him.
"Yes...?" I gulped thickly. I didn't really want to know what he was going to say.
"...Will you come back tomorrow...?" Hiro looked into my eyes with sorrow.
"Yeah... I'll try." I smile as I leave his grasp. "Bye Hiro. Say goodbye to Dr. Ayame for me." I wave and exit the clinic. This day was too crazy, I just want to go home.
I untie AppleJack from the tree and climb into her back.
"Lets go home, now." I stroke AppleJack's mane. AppleJack started to trot up the mountain.
When we arrived back at the farm, I untied the cart from AppleJack and took the saddle off her.
"You can relax now." I smile as I stroke her neck. I better go back to the café and see if they still need my help.
~
"Sorry about that..." I say sighing as I enter the café.
"It's ok dear!" Howard said smiling.
I walk up to the counter and hand over the money Dr. Ayame gave me for the cake.
"Thank you dear." Howard took the money and put it into the cash register.
"Hey I'm glad you're back." Laney said smiling.
"It's glad to be back!" I smile and laugh as I sit down next to Laney.
Suddenly, Cam came out from his bedroom.
"Feeling better Cam?" Howard looked over to the sleepy Cam with concern.
"Yes thanks..." He sighed and went over to Howard.
"Could I please have some soup?" Cam rubs his eyes as he talks to Howard.
"Of course!" He smiles as he opens a cabinet. "I'll get Lillian to bring it in when it's ready." Howard smiled at me and Cam turns around to look at me.
"Ok." He smiles and returns to his bedroom.
"...I think I'm going to go upstairs for a while..." Laney sighs and gets up from her seat.
"W-why?" I say grabbing her hand. She looks back at me calmly.
"I'll be back soon. Don't worry." She shakes her hand from my grasp and walks up stairs.
"...I guess she is just tired Lillian." Howard says reassuringly.
"Yeah..." I sigh and get up from my seat and walk into the kitchen.
"Here we go!" Howard says smiling. "But be careful! It's hot!" He hands over the bowl of fresh, hot soup. I take it carefully, trying not to burn myself.
"I'll be back shortly." I turn and walk towards Cam'a bedroom.
"I'm coming in Cam." I say as I knock on the door. I slowly open it and enter, closing the door behind me. Laying on the bed was a tired Cam, sleeping.
"I'll just put it on the table then." I whisper. I quietly place it on the table. I notice his hair is in his face.
"...I got it." I whisper gently brushing the hair out of his face. Not moving, he smiles a sweet smile. I grab the blanket and put it over him.
"Sleep well Cam." I whisper before turning around to leave the room.
Suddenly, something grabs my hand.
I quickly turn around to see Cam, holding my hands, so I can't run away.
"Lillian... Thanks for the soup." He smiles a devilish smile.
"N-no problem...!" I say looking into his eyes.
"But." He quickly snaps.
"But...?" I repeat.
"Next time... I would like you to make it..." He looks deeply into my eyes. He makes me blush deeply with embarrassment.
"You're so cute when you are embarrassed..." He smiles loosening the grip on my hands. That just made me blush even more and made him laugh.
"Lillian..." He moves in closer to my face. I blush, but I want to move away. But my eyes are fixed to his, and they put me into some kind of trance.
"I love you..." He gently kisses me on the lips. I don't know how to feel. Do I love him? Do I kiss him back?
But suddenly, someone barges into the café.
"Is Lillian here?" I hear a familiar voice say.
I indicate to Cam I need to leave and he lets me go.
"Yes..? I say quickly leaving Cam's room and shutting the door behind me.
It was Hiro.
"You left your jacket at the clinic." He smiles and hands me the coat.
"Oh thank you..." I give him a weak smile and look over to Howard. Howard nods as if he knows what I was going to say.
"Well... I have to go now... Thanks again." I take the jacket and quickly rush out of the café as quick as my feet could carry me.
I rush home as quickly as I could. I run inside quickly and shut the door quickly behind me. So now I know Hiro and Cam like me, and they will eventually want to know which I actually like. This day could seriously not get any worse.
"Lillian...? You there? It's me Laney." I hear her knock at the door.
"Yeah." I open the door to see Laney there pale and sick looking.
"What's wrong Laney!? Are you sick? Are you hurt!?" I look at her with serious concern.
"No I'm fine! I should be asking you that question!" Laney said looking into my eyes with sadness.
"Wha...?" I look at her with confusion as I let her in.
"You ran out of the café in a hurry, and have us all a big scare." Laney sits down at the dinning table.
"Oh I'm sorry... It's just..." I sigh and sit down across from her.
"What...?" Laney looks at me with corncern, but she is now gaining back her colour and doesn't look as sick.
"Ugh! Cam and Hiro both like me and they are going to make me choose but I have no idea who I like!" I bang my head on the table. It hurt, but right now I didn't care.
Laney gulped heavily and started shaking.
"Laney...?" I look up to see her on the verge of crying.
"What's wrong...? You still didn't tell me what was wrong back at the river. So, I think it would make you feel better if you told me now so I can help you." I wipe underneath her eyes to stop the tears that were starting to form.
"But... I don't want to make matters worse." Laney sighed and wiped her nose.
"You couldn't. Besides, I'd rather focus on your problem then mine." I smile at her, but she still looks depressed.
"I'm scared to tell you." She sighs and puts her head into her hands.
"Friends tell each other everything. I'm not going to hate you no matter what you tell me." I smile and she smiled back, but it was a very weak smile.
She bites her lip. "Ok."
"And...?" I look deep into her sad eyes.
She stirs and looks into my eyes.
"I think I love you."

A/N
