It was another silent and shadowy night when the tires to his old mustang rolled up outside my house. I peeped out my window from behind the pale curtains and watched as he just waited in his car. I stepped back, letting the curtain fall and block the dim light from my bedroom shining out. I left my bedroom and sauntered down the stairs. I soon made it to the doorway and left the house, walking down to the mustang. I climbed into the passenger seat and without a single word exchanged, we were off.
I hadn't seen him in a long time, with his structured jaw, long and slicked back hair and signature white t-shirt which clung to his well-defined muscles. I hadn't seen him, nor heard from him so seeing him today sent snakes shooting up my spine.
I leant back into the chair of the car, breathing in the familiar scent of his cologne which the stained leather. The wind blew roughly through my hair, sending it flying uncontrollably in all directions just like all the thoughts in my head. I wanted to say something to him. I wanted to tell him how I felt about us. About the fact that we hadn't talked nor seen each other in so long and now suddenly I was sat in his car as we drove for miles on end. I wanted to tell him this should stop and he should leave but every time I opened my mouth to speak, the words choked up in my throat and so I simply shut my mouth, biting down on my lip which was painted in my classic red lipstick that I knew he liked.
It was like this was our thing. We would disappear from each other for weeks on end, only to crash back into each other's lives soon after in our signature styles. With him in his white t-shirt and long, slicked back hair and me in my tight little skirt and red lipstick as I lost my good girl façade. But soon we would bring each other down and tear each other apart and disappear once again.
It was always the same.
The same long drives at midnight without a single light, nor headlight. It was as if we were driving straight into an abyss as all that surrounded us was black and tall, dark trees loomed over us. The same clothes with both of us dressed in white. It was as if we were trying to make ourselves stand out against the blackness of the night so that all we could see was each other. When the car finally come to a halt in a lonesome field and we just sat in it staring at each other, trying to figure out our lives.
With every blink, more thoughts clouded my mind as I looked into his eyes which held more than just secrets. I found myself getting sucked into them and they absorbed me making me feel as if I was living in a dream and all I could see was the boy in front of me.
After hours of just staring at each other, he stood up and walked to me. He held out a hand to help me up and I kindly accepted it only, when he pulled my up I went crashing into his chest. His arms wrapped protectively around my waist and once again we were staring at each other. I swallowed nervously before anxiously biting down on my red lip. Before I let myself get lost in another dream, I averted my gaze downwards and he stepped back, his fingers slowly trailing off my waist. We walked back to his mustang and still not a single word had been exchanged. We both climbed in and he soon began to drive on the sullen grayish-black road.
The drive back seemed much longer. Maybe it was due to the fact that from my peripheral vision I could see his wild eyes shamelessly darting to look at me every so often. They raked up and down my body which was clad in nothing but a tight, little skirt and top. I found myself having a hard time containing the blush which urged to creep across my cheeks as he took me home.
The night air had grown chillier and I found myself shivering by the time we reached my home. We both stepped out the car and onto the sidewalk, standing face to face. His eyes never broke away from mine as he shrugged off the coat he was wearing on top of his white t-shirt. I had to push back the urge to let my eyes wander down and instead bit down on my red-stained lips and I saw his eyes glance quickly at them as I did. He took a step forwards and I summoned up the courage to say what I had to.
"You've been out an about,' I said, not taking my eyes off him.
"I have." His voice was still the same deep and husky one which sent shivers running down my spine.
"With some other girl." My bottom lip wavered slightly.
"That's true," he confirmed as he took another step towards me and brought his hand up to cup my cheek. "But I can't stop thinking about you."
"I've been there too a few times," I whispered, looking down at my heels. His finger hooked under my chin and lifted it up to look at him but it was only for a few seconds before his lips covered mine and my eyes shut as we moved delicately together. Before we knew it, we were storming through my bedroom door and my back hit my bed. I watched as he pulled his white t-shirt over his head and threw it to the ground. This time, I didn't stop my eyes from looking down. He climbed back on top of my and placed his lips on mine as he kissed me in style.
