Chapter 4

Not A Date

After a wonderful night we all headed home. Once back on the yard and we had untacked and groomed the horses Every one got their stuff together and began to leave, Ian and Jamie left first thankfully.

"I thought those love birds would never leave!" Chris laughed.

"Yeah that was just awful if I had to listen to him say 'anything for you babe' one more time I would have puked!" I mimicked Ian. Chris and I burst out laughing.

"Hey Chris you ready to go?" Yelled Louis from the truck.

"Yeah be there in a sec Lou!' Chris answered, " Do you need a ride to the game Kaylee?" Chris asked me with seemingly hopeful eyes.

"Sure if it's not any trouble, don't go out of your way though I can drive myself." I replied cheerfully.

"It's no trouble." He assured me with a sweet smile, "I'll pick you up at about 1:00, so see you in about an hour." with that he ran to the truck and hopped in the passenger side, waving as they drove down the lane out of sight.

"Oh my gosh Kaylee did he just ask you out?" Autumn asked excitedly as she came to my side.

"No he's giving me a ride to hockey." I said rather disappointedly given that being asked out by him has been the only thing I've wanted for the past few years, now the closest I've gotten is being given a lift to hockey.

"Oh, well I'll have to get Lou to straighten him out then!" She teased and even though I knew it was teasing I felt panicked.

"NO! You can't! He'd know he can't know I like him ok it just can't happen."

"Calm down Kay I was just kidding around." She said putting her hands up and backing away a few steps. "Oh my gosh I've only got an hour!" She jumped towards me grabbing my hand and began pulling me towards the house.

"An hour for what?" I questioned.

"To get you ready to see Chris!" She squealed.

"Why? It's not a date he's just picking me up for hockey."

"There never will be a date if you don't look good now!"

"Fine then take me away." I said giving in.

By the time she was done with me my hair was in a high ponytail, I was wearing my black skinny jeans, a gray of the shoulder top that said 'Endless love knot' on it and pink and black supras.

"Perfection!" Autumn squealed, "You still look like you just a little bit more date ready."

"It's not a date, he's just giving me a lift to hockey." I explained for what felt like the tenth time.

"I'm sure he'll ask you out after seeing you like this." She gave me a wink and added, "I've got to get going I don't want to be in the way." and with that she left before I could say anything else.
