Home was just around the corner. Lestat and myself walked the late night streets and I had to admit I was a little nervous. This was almost where it had happened. I was almost dead in the street but Louie and Lestat saved me. Lestat, I feel could sense something was wrong. " Nina. Nina you realize that that man cannot harm you as long as you are with me, correct? I'll protect you, you needn't fret." I would always appreciate that. It was easier to walk in the dark after that.
Luckily I had my key to my apartment. The lock was broken so sometimes you have to play around with it before it would actually open correctly. Lestat grew frustrated with all my failed attempts at trying to get the door open and opened it on the first try with the key. He smirked at me as he opened the door and motioned for me to go on ahead inside. Such a gentleman, I rolled my eyes at his mocking me. I had lived in that apartment for over a week and still couldn't open the door? Really? How pathetic was that? I laughed at myself inwardly because I would never give Lestat the pleasure of me acknowledging that he was in fact correct, knowing his personality he would only just hold that over my head to mess with me. Lestat followed me inside and shut the door. It was incredibly dark and I couldn't see a thing.
I felt hand on the sides of me. I knew it was Lestat just being Lestat and trying to scare me in the dark. It did scare me at first because I had not known he was right there next to me. He chuckled as I told him to get some candles. I had found the matches but I didn't know where I had put the candles. Luckily he had found two. I lit them and I told him to follow me to my room. "I can pick out a few things I'll just need help carrying it." I said. We had a bag of clothes and a few other necessities and we were off. I shut the door to the apartment and made sure it was locked up tight before we made our way back to Louie and Lestat's home.
Once inside he brought the clothes and such and put them in the closet they let my use. I thanked him and told him I was going to get changed. He bowed and left the room.once changed I left to go find one of them. I could hear music coming from down the hall. I knew there was a piano in there because I noticed it when I tried to attack the both of them. I did not know if anyone played it.
Lestat sat atop the piano bench playing the most beautiful song I had ever heard. I knocked on the doors entrance twice to get his attention. He looked up and smirked and told me I could come in if I wanted to. There was a long leather couch with some chairs and and weird looking French coffee table. I sat down in my dress and listened. As soon as the song was over he looked at me. No, stared. "Yes?" I asked. "Something you need?" He looked like he was deep in thought.
"That dress looks gorgeous on you." He said. "Thank you, Lestat." I said as a slight blush crept onto my pale cheeks. He said nothing and neither did I for a few moments. "No one ever taught you did they?" He asked. "Taught me what?"
"The piano. No one ever taught you? I myself am a very good teacher, if I should say so myself."
"Do you wish to teach me?" I asked nervously.
"Are you afraid of me, Nina? I promise I won't bite, come here, sit. I'll show you how it's done." As he said this he motioned for me to come sit next to him. I did so and he took my hands I his. I looked up to the blonde smirking man next to me as he put my hands over the correct keys. He then placed his on top of my own. He began to play a song. Again it was one of the most beautiful pieces I ever heard. Lestat definitely had a gift for the piano. I had wondered how long it had taken him to master the instrument. Hundreds of years I joked inwardly. I smiled up at him as we played. I was enjoying this. I had always wanted to learn how to play and now I could learn from someone who's mastered it. I was not doing too bad by myself if I had to say. Part of the way through our little lesson, Lestat let me play by myself, correcting me every once in a while. Or if I messed up. I didn't do it a lot but I was learning.
Soon a door could he heard opening and a disheveled Louie had walked in. The piano stopped as all eyes turned to Louie. "What happened to you Louie?" Lestat asked. "It rained." Was his response which earned a few chuckles from myself and Lestat.
"So teaching Nina piano, are we? How's it going so far?" Lestat thought for a moment and then spoke. "Nina actually isn't half bad, if she practices some more with me, I think we could have her playing beautifully all by herself in a few weeks." Louie looked impressed. "Lestat always tried to teach me how to play but I never had the patience for it, nor the passion for it, like he does." Lestat gave Louie another one if his trademark smirks and began to play again for us. Like always it was beautiful. The three of us stayed up the majority of the night talking and playing the piano. Finally I was getting tired. So were they by the looks of it. "It's getting late Louie, we need to rest." Said Lestat. "Yes. I'll be heading to bed too Nina." The sun was just starting to rise. We must have stayed up later than what I thought. I was suddenly aware that I was tired. "Do you two always do this? Stay up all hours of the night and sleep in the day?" I said half heartedly. "Yes. Actually we do. Louie and myself enjoy the nighttime much more than the day anyways, we can be a bit backwards, Nina."
"Yes I understand. Well if it's all the same to you, I think I'll be headed to bed as well. Goodnight Louie, goodnight Lest-" I was cut off.
"I'll walk you to your room, Nina." Lestat took me back to my room but before he left me safe inside it he took my hand in his and kissed it. "Sleep well Cherie." He said as he departed with a smirk down the hallway. I could feel my cheeks flush again. I slept well that night- I mean day.
