The Bridge

Chapter I

I wake up early Monday morning, hyped up for another summer day. I go brush my teeth and get dressed. I put on a blue Nike "Stats Don't Lie" shirt, basketball shorts, and Blue KD 7's. Then I head downstairs.
"Morning Dad"
"Morning Ash" Dad replies. "What you doing today?" He continues
"Riding around the hood with Jay and Ty" I reply
"Oh ok be careful I ain't trust this hood. Your mother got killed in this hood cuz of them drunk drivers."
I meditate on what he says then reply. "Dad you bring that up EVERYDAY. I promise you imma come back home today safe cuz I know this hood."
"Fine" says dad in a 'whatever' kind of way.
After I finish my breakfast I hop on my BMX and roll it out of the garage. Only to hear my dad yell. 😒
"ASHTON! You didn't say bye to your sister!"
Ugh I walk back in the house and yell
"BYE SHANNYN"
"Bye Ash and be careful out there"
My older sister Shannyn is always bossing me around she really get me tight. So I finally pull out of the driveway and head over the Jay's house. Me and Jay been friends since Kindergarten and we even in the same 8th grade class. I finally got to his house.
I ring the doorbell.  After a few minutes the door opens.
"Hi Mrs. French is Jay here?"
"Hey Ashton and yes he is. He's coming back down stairs now." She replies kindly.  I walk down the front door steps to my bike and stand next to it on my phone.
"JALYN HURRY UP ASHTON IS OUTSIDE!" I hear from the house.
"IM COMING MOMMY" replies Jalyn. I bust out laughing.
Finally Jay comes downstairs and I mock him.
"I'm coming mommy 😂"
"Shut up before I smack you"
" Yeah right. Let's start heading to Ty's house."
So Jay hops on his BMX and we ride to Ty's house. Once we get there Ty is already outside with his bike.
"Aye waddup bro." Jay calls out
"What's good. " He replies.
I give him a dap and Jay does the same. We sit on his steps and plan out the day.
"Yo guys" Ty starts " I heard about this bridge all the way across town man. Boys on my team said it was haunted. Like somebody died on it or sumn." I look at him like he got 10 heads.
"Bruh you really believed that? They no such things as ghosts."
"Yeah no such thing!" Jay says frantically
"No way Jay. You don't believe in ghost do you?" I say to Jay.
"Well..." Jay says.
"Oh come on yall both believe in ghosts??? Nahh to prove it to you we going over there today. And we checking it out." I say angrily.
"Ash you don't wanna do that I'm telling you" warns Ty.
"I do wanna do this. I'm kinda curios now."
"Ok whatever you say Ash" Jay says.
"But I'm staying behind you the whole time" says Ty.
"Fine" I say. "Whimps" I mumble under my breath.
