Chapter 1

Being born into this life may not have been chosen but it was a gift from the heavens that watch over 

us. Many people grow up and live life according to money and where life takes them. The life I was 

born into taught me that it's not money but the people around you and the earth around you. I was 

named Cindra Custodia Black, my name means defender of mankind and guardian keeper. My father 

says I was named that after the stories of our tribe. Even if there not real they still have a great deal in 

our history.

I snapped out of my daydream while I wrote my English paper when Jake came storming in shirtless 

and just cut off pants. I sighed shaking my head and going back to writing when dad rolled in closing 

the door lightly "What happened?" I asked closing the notebook and standing up "Sam and Jake got 

in a fight about Bella." Before I could respond I heard a crashing noise in Jake's room and my wolf 

Luna that I adopted when it was a baby came strutting out of my room and laid in front of the couch I 

sat back down on "Why can't he see Bella?" Dad shook his head turning on the TV "it's complicated 

Hon.... You don't need to be dragged in it." I groaned throwing my head back. Ever since Jake cut his 

hair, got way BIGGER and had a tattoo now there's things I can't know that only dad and Jake know 

and I hate being out of the loop. Jake came out of his room a little while later when dad had went 

over to Harry's house and sat next to me "Cindra I hate to ask this of you but..." I cut him off waving 

my hand in the air and smiled at my older brother but it didn't reach my eyes as I stared into his sad 

broken eyes "I'll head over there right now." He smiled jumping up pulling me with him and hugging 

me "Thank you." Nodding my head I walked out and towards my black jeep, opening the door I 

whistled getting Luna to run outside and jump in the car. Before I could get in a saw Sam walking up 

to the house with Paul, Jared, and Embry. I heard about them through dad and Jake's arguments. 

They looked at me with wide eyes at Luna in the car but I ignored them and hopped in since my short 

and drove off towards Bella's.

I laughed at Bella as she waved bye from the door and nearly yelped when Luna came running from 

behind her to get back in the jeep to go back home. I felt bad for Bella; Edward left her in such a 

fragile state. Charlie and Jake where scared to lose her and now she's slowly slipping back into herself 

because Sam isn't letting Jake be around her. As I pulled up to the house I got out and walked into the 

house only stopping seeing Jake sitting there rubbing his head while Sam, Embry, Paul and Jared 

stood around him "Just let me talk to her!" Jake cried out and my heart reached out to my brother
