*Beep Beep Beep*

I pound the snooze button on my alarm clock. Ugh... I really don't feel like getting up and doing anything today. Now that I think about it, when do I ever feel like doing anything at all?

"Rise and shine, Alina! You don't want to miss school." My mother chirps and proceeds to walk over to my window and open the curtains.

"Ugh. Can't I just stay home today? I really don't want to take my AP Lit. test today." I complain.

"Absolutely not. You need to keep your grades up if you want to enroll at Emerson."

"Ugh. I still have two months before graduation. I'll be fine. It's not like I skip school on a regular basis."

"I'm not listening to this. Get up and get ready for school."

"Fineeee..."

With that, my mother walks out of the room. I slowly begin to ease my way out of bed and make my way to the bathroom.

"Damn. I look like I came out of a horror movie," I mumble.

I shuffle over to my closet, debating on what to wear. I decide on jeans, black converse, and my "ok, but first coffee" sweatshirt. I then return to the bathroom and brush out my long, brown hair. I apply my usual makeup which consists of powder and mascara. I grab my phone from it's charger and throw my backpack over my shoulder and head downstairs to the kitchen. I'm about to walk out the door when my mom calls me.

"Alina! Did you grab something to eat?" she asks. I shake my head no. My mom grabs a NutriGrain bar and tosses it to me along with a bottle of water.

"Thanks. See you later," I mutter on my way out.

I shut the door before she can say anything else. I hop into my electric blue 2008 Ford Focus and take off for school.

~~~~~
When I arrive, I automatically spot my friend, Noelle, waiting for me by the front entrance. She's wearing I approach her and when she sees me, her face lights up.
"Finally! I've been waiting for you for like twenty minutes!" she huffs.
"Sorry. I overslept this morning," I reply.
"Hurry your ass up! The first bell already rang. We're going to be late."
Noelle pulls me into the building then continues to drag me to our first class, yearbook. We stumble in just as the bell rings. We quickly take our seats in the back row and class begins shortly after that.
~~~~~

Lunch period finally rolls around. I'm pacing down the hallway, trying to find Noelle, when I smack into someone, causing both of us to fall over and drop our things.

"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry!" I begin to apologize when I'm cut off.

"Don't worry about it. It was an accident," the person replies.

I look up to see none other than Kendall Mchale, a.k.a the "queen bee" of the school. Kendall has always been popular. Even as a little girl everyone loved her, and as a child she was incredibly nice to everyone. Starting in middle school she started to change her appearance and style. Her new found, appealing looks made her even more popular, but over the years her incredibly nice attitude seemed to fade. It was no longer a genuine niceness, it was almost fake. For a split-second she looks really annoyed but quickly covers it up with a smile.

"Sorry, this is my fault. I wasn't looking where-" I begin but yet again, I get cut off.

"Oh gosh, this isn't your fault, it's mine. I was being careless and looking at my phone while walking down the hallway," she interrupts.
