Suffering the consequences, retribution, punishment, all mean the same thing. Some harsher than others, but none as harsh as that of “Her”
People refer to the person as “her” because her punishment went as deep as the name itself. Her face itself is blank to all those who witnessed her the undeserved punishment and murder of “Her”
She was still growing up, just an ordinary child, but people tended to ignore her, thinking she was weird. The girl known as “Her” thought differently from others, she saw the world more clearly, even though she was too young to understand what that meant.
The people of the town were only going along with it, when they threw “Her” into a cell. It happened many times when people who had authority in the town, found her speaking differently or doing things that weren’t considered normal, they’d lock her away for a day or two hoping to break the child’s active spirit.
One day that turned on them, the girl finally asked what it was she was doing so wrong, and the people had no answer. They could only stare at the child who really hadn’t done anything wrong. Not to a person, not to a possession, she only thought differently about the world.
They didn’t know what to do, so in a panic, they came up with false charges for “Her” and had her executed.
It was kept quiet so no one would question the judgment made on the child. The few authority figures who did witness “Her’s” murder, quickly pushed it out of mind, unable to bare the guilt, and soon the whole town forgot about the child, known as “Her”
