Change is life, o how I’ve heard
At times although it sounds absurd
Though we have changed, this much is true
To what extent? I wish I knew.
We used to love, adore and care
Now we destroy, despise and despair
We helped without a second thought
Now we just look away and leave to rot.
We valued life and held it dear
Now we kill without a shred of fear
We judged based on moral grounds
Not fame, success or material bounds.
The young respected the old at age
Now the old are just met with rage
Children obeyed at first command
Now, that is a luxury we can’t demand.
Though this was a change, there is no doubt
But is this the change we pride about?
For change might light a better way
But is this the price we have to pay?
