One day in 5th grade, a boy was being picked on. That boy's name was Jacob Lawson. It looked like he got lucky and bumped into the our grade bully during recess.
"Hey! Who do you think you're bumping into?", yelled the bully.
The fact that he was a bully, made me hate him, so I don't remember his name. Once the bully yelled, a few kids started to stare. Then a crowd started to form. Me and my best friend, Jessica, eventually joined.
"Hey look it's Jacob Lawson."
"He doesn't talk to anyone."
"He's that boy who's always by himself.."You could hear people whisper about Jacob. Mostly everyone knew what was up with him. He didn't talk to anybody and probably didn't have any friends, which means he was alone all the time. I saw Jacob sitting on the floor, his face staring at the rocky cement. The bully just kept yelling at Jacob, calling him names. Jacob just sat there in silent, though. The bully look frustrated by Jacob's silence. He raised his fist up to hit Jacob.
"Stop it!", yelled a girl
I was in shock to see my best friend standing in front of the bully, but at the same time I was proud.
"Yeah you go Jessica, go get him." I said to myself, putting up my fists. "Hey look that's my best friend.", is what I told the kid next to me.
I saw Jessica's arms stretch out to shield Jacob and stop the bully. The bully's fist stopped right in front of Jessica's face. You could tell he was surprised to see her standing there and also because she didn't even flinch.
"Get out of my way!", the bully yelled at Jessica
"No!", Jessica said. "It's not nice to yell and hit someone! All he did was bump into you! You didn't have call him names!"
Jessica stood there with an intimidating face. There was no way she was going to back down. I looked at Jacob to see his reaction, but his head was still hung low.
"Who do you think you are?!"
"I'm Jessica Summers. I want you to leave this boy alone."
The bully was an angry mess, while Jessica was calm and collected. The bully hadn't said anything, so Jessica turned around to Jacob. She reached out her hand and smiled at him.
"No way, she stood up to him!"
"Looks like there's nothing to be scared of anymore."
"Whoa! She's cool!"People started to say those kind of things when Jessica was talking to Jacob. Jessica paid no attention to them, though.
"You're best friend is amazing.", the kid next to me said
I smiled. "You bet she is!"
Everyone started chanting "Jes-si-ca! Jes-si-ca!" I looked at the bully and he was totally embarrassed and angry. He reached to the ground and grabbed a rock. He held it up in the air. I tried to push my way through the crowd to stop him. Jessica wasn't paying attention and everyone was too busy cheering. He threw the rock at the back of Jessica's head before I could get through. Jessica fell to the ground.
"Jessica!!" I screamed, shoving people out of my way.
I sat on the ground next to Jessica's body and started to cry. While crying, I held an unconscious Jessica in my arms. Everyone started to ask things like "Is she okay?" and "Is she dead?" After hearing this I repeated to myself that she was going to be okay. I repeated it faster when I realized my hand holding Jessica's head was red. Jacob stared at Jessica and my hand that had blood on it. The teachers finally came at the point.
Jessica didn't come to school for two days. I started to hate Jacob. He was there with Jessica. He could see the bully, he wasn't facing away from him like Jessica. Why didn't he do anything to stop the bully or help her? All because he couldn't defend himself Jessica got hurt.
The day Jessica came back we saw Jacob later that day. He just glanced at us. I filled up with anger. No "I'm sorry you got hurt because of me." Or "Thank you for defending me."?"How rude of him." I said to Jessica, putting my hands on my hips. "He didn't even come over to thank you or anything."
"Who? For what?" Jessica asked, clearly lost
"Jacob, and what do you mean 'for what?'? For saving, him duh Jess!"
"Jacob...? Sorry Meg, I don't really know what you're talking about.." Jessica replied, trying to figure out what was going on.
I later figured out Jessica had lost her memories after getting hit on the head. Jessica had forgotten about the incident that happened at recess and Jacob.

I stared at my phone, reading Jess' heartbroken texts. The guy she was hear broke over? Jacob Lawson. When she first mentioned him, I tried to get over my anger and gave him a second chance. I didn't tell Jessica about their past, because 1) she wouldn't remember and 2) her being Jessica she would still give him a chance. Things were looking good at first, but then he decided to distance himself from Jessica. This hurt her, since she started to like him. Jacob probably doesn't even remember what had happened, or the fact that he hurt her. Jacob Lawson has hurt my best friend, Jessica Summers twice now. It might not be the same kind of pain, but he's hurting her! She's my best friend, and hurting her isn't forgivable. He doesn't deserve someone like Jess. Jess is hard working and nice. He probably doesn't realize how great she is. Distancing himself away from her when she's trying so hard to get closer to him and be there for him. I won't ever accept someone like him.[Weeks later...]
Great. It looks like Jess and Jacob made up and are together now. What's even worse is that they kissed. Even worse then that though, she almost went into detail when she told me about it. Gross. In a way I'm glad, though. Jess has been a lot more happier now because of him.
"...And then...!" Jess continued to go on about her last date with Jacob
Her face lights up every time she talks about him. If he makes her this happy then...
"..Maybe I can accept him." I whisper to myself
"Did you say something, Meg?" Jess asks me
"Huh? No, you must be hearing things.." I say, looking away from her
Jess just continues to go on her about her date. I smile to myself. I'll accept him, but only because she's my best friend.
Aha... There's the one shot. (I feel like it was too long, though) Sorry for any grammar mistakes. I hope you didn't think it was terrible, and liked it. I also hope the emoji shows up... Well if you can't see it, it's the emoji of the girl with arms crossed to make an x. Anyways, I decided to write with Megan because I really liked her character and during the story I saw how much Megan cares for Jessica. And I just ended up writing about their friendship and how she hated Jacob. Nothing against Jacob, though. He's a cutie<3 Thanks for reading and MAKE SURE TO CHECK OUT Z-AQUARIUS-KAI's TALK AND TEXTS! YOU WONT REGRET IT!
