Cassius' P.O.V.

I was standing peacefully a couple yards away from my new herd when a rope was throne over my head. I reared, whinnying for the herd to run, but it was too late. They were caught too. The trappers separated me from the herd and kept me in a pen all by myself. I stay in this pen for four days, and three times a day, they would bring me hay and fresh water. I would never eat or drink it, but they still kept bringing it. On the fifth day, a truck pulls up next to my pen with a trailer attached to it. They opened the gate so that the only place I could go would be into the trailer. A guy climbs over the fence behind me with a whip. He lightly taps the backs of my legs, then my hips. The tapping gets harder until one of the guys has to stop him from seriously hurting me. I can feel my warm blood dripping down my legs.

"How are we going to get him on the trailer? He's as solid as a rock," one of the guys says to another guy who is clearly the boss.

"Go get me a sedative and two ropes," boss guy says. The guy nods and scurries off to get what he needs. He comes back and I slowly back away to the other side of the pen. He comes into the pen and I whinny nervously. I turn back and forth, trying to decide which way to run. "I may be a werewolf, but my alpha command will work on you," he says coldly. "Come here." I snort and stay where I am. "Come here!"  I take a step forward towards him, but take one back when I realize what I'm doing. "COME HERE!" he yells. I hang my head and walk over to him. He puts something in my shoulder that stings a little, but I don't move. He pats my neck and runs a hand over my back and hip, down my legs and back up after he is done. "Boys, come here," he calls out. About twenty men come in and look at me strangely. "Come to me." They start coming and I get really nervous. I back up a little and keep my head low. Once they are all standing by the alpha, he speaks. "I want each one of you to feel his muscle like I did. I want to see what he'll tolerate. One at a time so you don't scare the poor thing." A guy a little smaller than the alpha walks towards me. I huff and walk over to the water, finally deciding it's not poisoned. I cautiously drink my water as one by one the guys come and does what the alpha did. One of the guys touches one of the many scratches on my back from the whipping and I whip my head around to bite him, but stop when I notice that the alpha is watching me.

The guy that whipped me steps forward and I back away. I glance over at the alpha and watch as he walks over to the guy that whipped me. He hands him something and whispers in his ear. He goes back to his spot on the fence and watches me carefully. The man that whipped me holds his hand out towards me that has a sugar cube on it, waiting for me to make a move. I look over at the alpha and he gestures for me to go towards him. I wearily walk to him and grab the sugar cube before darting away.

"Damn, Kyle, what did you do to him?" someone asks.

"I was the one who tried to get him into the trailer," Kyle says guiltily. Everyone looks at him and he hangs his head in shame. I walk over to him and nudge him with my head. He chuckles and pets my face. I walk away from him and over to the smiling alpha.

It starts raining and Kyle runs off to go get something. Puddles form and I'm tempted to go role in them, but judging from the look on the alpha's face, he doesn't want me to. I huff and let the cold rain drum on my back. Kyle comes back out of breath with a horse blanket.

"What took you so long, Kyle?" the alpha asks.

"Sorry, Alpha. I was having trouble finding one small enough. We don't really catch foals."

"Yes, I know that. Hurry up and put it on him before he gets pneumonia." I want to chuckle, but being in horse form won't allow me to. I'm a horse shifter, for Christ's sake, I don't get sick. I let him put the blanket on me anyways. He pulls something made of rope and a rope off the fence and is about to walk towards me when the alpha stops him, taking the stuff from him. I'm slightly curious about it, but the wild horse in me is terrified.

He walks to me and gently rubs the ropy thing on my nose and face. He's about to put it on me, when my wild horse instincts kick in and I dart away from him.

"That's why I didn't want you to do it. He's not halter broken and I didn't want to run the risk of him hurting you," he says as he grabs the two ropes from the fence. He swings it and throws it over my head. It loops around my neck and when I rear, he loops one around my left front leg. He pulls me back onto all four hooves and tightens up the ropes as he walks closer. He pulls my leg out from under me and pins me to the ground. He gently puts the ropy thing over my head and clips the rope to it. He slips the loops off my neck and leg. He gets up afterwards and with a slight tug from the rope, I get up. I shake myself to get rid of the dirt and walk towards the alpha. He has a sugar cube in his hand, held out to me. I grab the sugar cube and try to bolt, but he has a firm hold on the rope. He pulls my head closer to him and gently rubs my face. I start to lean into his touch and for once in my short four month life, I'm relaxed.

Alpha Marcus' P.O.V.

I watch as the colt we caught finally relaxes into me petting him. The sedative must be working. I take a step back, keeping my hand on his face at all times, and he follows. I walk backwards to the trailer and easily get him to come into it.

"I'll stay back here with him," I say as I sit down on a hay bail after tying him to the trailer. Kyle closes the door to the trailer and the truck starts soon after. I look at him and see he looks really tired and skinny. Being only about four months old, he shouldn't be without his mother. Then it clicks, his mother wasn't in the herd. He must have lost his mom. That means he hasn't eaten for at least five days. God, I'm so stupid. Good thing its only a half an hour drive from here to Warm Springs Ranch, where we live. As the truck starts moving, he almost looses his balance and ends up laying down on the floor. He huffs and closes his eyes. We're going to have to introduce him to the herd. I wonder how the pastuv will react to him. Lets just hope he can tolerate him enough so he could be with his own kind.
