"Lucy!" Kat called as I ran towards her, "Hurry up!" this had been a tradition ever since we met each other at church when we were five. We would always run down to the beach after church, in our church dresses and watched stayed there until the sun set. Every Sunday since we were five. We have never missed a single one. When I was in the hospital getting my appendix removed, I still made my way to our special spot on the beach near where the rocks meet the water. We spend hours there. Just together. Best Friends. Until the sun goes down. Every Sunday.

I am trying not to rip my new church dress my grandma made me. It is white and comes up to just above my knees. It is a little too short for church as I am quite tall, however, I wore my white cotton stockings.

Kat was about ten meters in front of me. "Hurry up Lucy!" she called. She was really impatient. I stopped for a second. We had been running since the church. I needed to catch my breath. Kat never seemed to get tired. She was still running. When she realised I stopped, so did she. She took her long brown hair out of the plat that it was in and draped it over her shoulders. She didn't look tired at all. She has always been faster than me. Even in her boots while I was wearing flats. Kat is truly beautiful. She is tall and skinny, much like myself, but there is something about her that would make any boy go crazy. I don't know if it is her piercing black eyes or the way that she has been wearing the same dress to church for five years. But there is something special about Kathrine Jay.

From then on we walked together to our spot on the beach. When we finally got there, we unpacked the picnic basket. The spot was right next to the water on some rocks. Just big enough for the two of us.

Just as I shoved an egg sandwich into my face, Kat says, "Do you think when we grow old and get married and have kids we will still come here?" she asks.

"Of course," I say through bites, "We will even be able to bring our kids here. Then, when we grow old and die, they will come here every Sunday after church."

We talk like this the whole day. From something as deep as our hopes and dreams to what we are going to wear to school on Monday.

By the time of the sun set we are both getting tired. I rest my head on her shoulder. I love her. Not in a romantic way but in a sisterly love, although we are not related by blood or anything, our love for one another makes us sisters.

The sun set is beautiful. The rays of light from the sun dance on the water and make it sparkle.

It is dark on our way home. We use the flash lights from our phones to see where we are going. My mum offered to pick us up, but that isn't part of the Sunday tradition.

We get to our houses. Kat lives next door to me. I say goodbye to her then go upstairs to my room. It is only seven pm, but I am exhausted. I curl up on my bed, forgetting to change out of my church clothes. I hear Kat yell from the house next door "GOODNIGHT!" she knows I am going to sleep, even though she isn't. I can't be bothered to yell back, so I just text her night x. before I go to sleep.

BEEP BEEP BEEP

My alarm is going off. I try to move my arm to put it on snooze, however, I forgot that I fell asleep in my church clothes and my cardigain had gotten court on something so I had to sit up and unhook myself from it. And by then, I had already woken up.

It only takes me fifteen miniutes to get ready for school, so once I am ready, I headed over to Kat's house to head off to school with her. There is just one problem. She isn't there.
