Shadows....

Neither black nor are they white,

Darkness is just the absence of light.

Neither harmful nor is it safe,

It's something that you have to brave.

It just so happens that I prefer,

The shadows as my own chaffeur.

They've taught me lessons no professor can teach,

But the moral of this story, is even further to reach.

~~~
You know, some people appear to be strong for others. They may seem happy, energetic, and kind. But there's always a side of every individual that most people don't notice because they get easily fooled by their external appearances. What matters most, is what's hidden underneath everything.
The sadness beneath their smiles.
The real meaning of the words they say.
The reason why they help as much as they can without even considering themselves.
They do these to prevent people from falling into what darkness they are in. But still, everyone takes this for granted. A few "thank you's" may be exchanged and everything may look alright. However, we long for the appreciation that no words can suffice.
To be loved, to be treated as an equal, to be able to have 'friends' that don't talk about lies behind your back. To be normal.
I know all this, because up until now. I'm still the shadow to everyone's light. And I'm not the only one who feels this way. There are more of us waiting to be part of everyone's life without being a nuisance. We're the Shadows that no one ever acknowledges, the Shadows assigned to every single person. Silently guarding our Light, but not getting close. Because that's what we do. We protect and reassure but, we never get in contact.
But, being the idiot that I am, I broke the rules.
