Christian
"Damn, do you really have to beat me at everything!" I screamed while running out of breath. "It's not my fault I'm better than you at life Christian!" Jourdan taunted back as she sat on the steps of her lime green 3-story suburban house. We were officially done with seventh grade! It was the last day of school and we decided to race to her house to watch some movies and order a pizza. Completely winded I collapsed onto her well manicured lawn and right besides the lovely bed of yellow roses Mrs.Summers recently paid the local gardener to come and plant. "Oh....Shut....Up" I muttered in between breaths while Jourdan was laughing hysterically "Come on Christian, let's go inside. I think my mom is home early."
Jourdan and I met in the first grade under some not so ideal circumstances. I was quite on the short and heavy side as a child (come to speak of it I still am) and kids tortured me for it. It was a hot sunny day and all the kids were out in the schoolyard for recess. I didn't have many friends so I sat on a little ledge in the handball court and pulled out a honeybun from my left pocket and a Garfield comic book from my right pocket. I opened the honeybun which was a little warm and gooey due to the fact it was in my pocket for 4 hours in 80 degree weather, but nonetheless it was still good enough to eat. I was smack in the middle of Garfield eating Jon's hidden lasagna which at the time I found extremely hilarious. "What's so funny fat boy?!" one of meanest third graders named Eric said. Eric was one of the older kids who monitored the younger ones during recess. He was one of the tallest 9 year olds in the school, he was dark skin with green eyes and curly black hair. All the first grade girls loved him and the boys hated him. He surrounded me with his little crew, who called themselves G.H.C. (which was an acronym for Girls Have Cooties), and I stared up at them completely caught off guard "I asked you a question you fat piece of crap!" Eric exclaimed while snatching the comic book from my hands.
"I was just reading my comic my mom bought for me yesterday." I said in a trembling voice.
"I was just reading my comic book my mommyyy bought for me yesterday." he mimicked as his friends laughed.
I was terrified and it seems as if Eric smelled my fear.
"Typical little fat boy hiding in the corner eating snacks. Hey guys this rolly polly olly didn't even have the respect to ask us if we wanted some" he turned to his friends and said.
"I don't know about you guys, but I'm feeling very disrespected."
"YEAH!" one of his friends said "I DEFINTELY AM!" another friend said. I knew things were turning for the worst so I offered them the other half of my honeybun and tried to walk away. Eric slapped the honeybun out of my hand and pushed me to sit back down, he pushed me back with so much force I nearly hit my head on the wall behind me "Not so fast tubby, you can't leave here without your punishment." the boys behind him began making fists and punching it into their opened hands. I started to cry.
"Look guys" he said.
"He's fat and he's a crybaby!" they started laughing and he grabbed my shirt from the neck and motioned to punch me and shut my eyes tightly.
*Clink* "Oww" one boy said *Doop* "Oww what the.." Eric said and suddenly I was let go and peeked through my eyes to see what was going on "LEAVE HIM ALONE YOU DUMMIES!" screamed a little girl while throwing pebbles at the boys' heads "MOVE AWAY FROM HIM OR I WILL CHEW YOUR HEAD OFF AND FEED IT TO MY DOG FOR DINNER!"
"Stop throwing your cootie infested rocks at us you freak" Eric said while running away with the rest of G.H.C.
"Are you okay?" the girl said. I fully opened my eyes and over me stood a caramel coffee skin toned little girl with big brown eyes and neck length pigtails with butterfly clips strategically placed throughout her head, she was skinny and I could clearly tell taller than me due to the fact she had long legs, she was missing her two front teeth, but still managed to be the prettiest girl I ever saw. "Yeah, I'm okay. Thank you for helping me." "No problem, those guys are idiots! I'm Jourdan, what's your name?" she said with a smile on her face and her hand extended to help me off the ground "I'm Christian." I said while dusting the dirt off of my pants, "Christian... I like that name." I felt like I wanted to blush. Suddenly the bell rang for everyone to go back inside and we headed back into the school "Don't worry about those guys, I'll make sure they never bother you again. From now on we'll be the best of friends." she said with a smile while studying my face to see if I approved "Yea, that sounds good! I've never had a best friend before." I said while looking down "Well now you do, Jourdan and Christian best friends forever" she said as we entered the school. Jourdan waved goodbye as she went into her class an I went into mine, I waved back. I made my first best friend that day and met the love of my life.
