XXXVI: The Bone Dragon (Part 2 of 2)

"Shard wake up, dammit!" Sky yelled. She slapped Shard repeatedly on the face until his cheeks beamed red. His eyes opened weakly before he finally woke up, holding his head. With one hand and a cheek with his other.

"Ugh, what happened?" Shard said.

"You ran out of energy, carrying me."

"Really? So what happened to ol' Dry Bone?"

"We need ice!"

"Great. Now look around. See any ice here?"

Silence.........

"Exactly." The bone dragon spotted and blasted fire at them, so Sky pulled Shard away before he could take more damage. "Sky don't pull me around like this!" Sky looked down at him. "I can take all of his attacks!"

Sky punched him in the mouth. "No you can't! Shard, I know that you're powerful, that you're strong and can handle many things. But I also know that your primary weakness is fire based attacks." Shard looked down, upset at the inevitable truth.

"Then....what do we do?" Shard said softly.

"We find that oasis." Sky manipulated her energy to make herself fly, and Shard used his wings. They rocketed away towards water, an oasis, anything. The dragon is pissed at this point and chases them. He launches a fire attack that nearly misses the two. However..

The bone dragon then launched an array of fireballs at the two. Shard grabbed Sky's arms and threw her into the distance.

The only thing Sky could hear was a scream and an explosion. However, she knew he was alive. He was alive.....right?

Tears now flooding from her eyes, Sky flew for what seemed like a thousand years (three minutes) when she found an oasis. Unfortunately, the bone dragon found it first. He was carrying Shard in one of his claws, and he seemed to be unconscious.

"SHARD! WAKE UP!" Sky yelled. She blasted the beast with energy blasts until he finally fell over. That should buy her about three or four minutes. She released Shard from the dragon's grasp and looked at him. Battered and torn.

"Wake up, please..." no response. Then, Sky decided to try an old trick she used on him. She whispered in his ear "Wake up", and kissed him on the cheek. Sure enough, Shard's eyelids opened slowly as he just barely made it back to consciousness. Sky hugged him, but Shard was to confused to hug her back. She didn't care, though.

"Shard. To kill this dragon, we need to freeze its bones and shatter them. Can you freeze the water here?" Shard looked at the oasis and his arm morphed into his arm cannon.

"Yeah, sure" He replied. "Leah's ice magic is stonger, but this'll have to do." Shard's arm cannon changed from its black color to a light blue color.

Sky charged up a blast and shot it from her palms into the water, causing the water to soak the dragon.

"Special move Theta! Freezer Flash!" Shard yelled as a cyclone of ice flowed out of Shard's arm cannon and onto the bone dragon, freezing it.

"Now! Let's go!" Sky yelled. She blasted the frozen beast with her energy blasts while Shard pulled out his sword.

"Brake Release!" Shard yelled as his body grew more and more powerful. He sprouted his wings once more and absorbed the energy from Sky's blast attack. His sword now with a blinding white aura, he yelled and slashed the dragon. Once he cut through, he spun and sliced the dragon into pieces. As they fell down, they shattered into super small specs.

"Man that was tough.....and all that for....what exactly?" Shard said.

"A book, Shardy." Sky said.

"...did you just call me 'Shardy'?"

Sky's face flushed red. "What? No I didn't! Heheh..."

"Anyway, what now?" Shard said. And just as he said that, the world around them flashed a bright white color, and put our heroes into unconsciousness.
