Hayley's POV
I sighed contentedly into Josh's chest as the credits of the movie rolled. I felt his lips press to the top of my hair, and I took a moment to think about blessed I am. I have the greatest kids in the world, the greatest job in the world, and the greatest husband in the world. He was so patient, and so protective. I love him so much. Every time he stares at me with those chocolate eyes, I melt, and feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside.
"Hayles?"
I broke away from my thoughts to find Josh staring down at me, a small smile on his face.
"You've been staring at me and smiling for a good five minutes now." Josh pointed out, the grin never leaving his face.
I brought one of my hands up, running it through his hair. I looked into those warm eyes, and felt love fill my entire being. Josh stared back at me, still smiling. He brought his arm over my waist and hugged my body close to his. I let out a deep breath before I replied to him.
"I was thinking about how lucky I am to have you, and the kids, and Paramore."
His smile widened at my words, so much that the corners of his eyes wrinkled. See, that's the adorable stuff I'm talking about!
"I feel exactly the same babe, I don't know where I'd be without my sexy rockstar wife and our little band of punks." Josh said, leaning towards me and placing a soft kiss on my lips.
I smiled into the kiss, placing my hands on his cheeks, drawing him closer. Josh's hand grazed up my thigh as he climbed on top of me. I moaned into the kiss and gripped his collar, trying to bring him closer, if that was even possible. I felt his tongue brush my bottom lip, so I opened my mouth slightly. As our tongues slid back and forth, exploring each other's mouths, the front door swings open.
"Mom? Dad?" Stevie's voice calls out.
We both pull away and sit up, attempting to straighten ourselves out. By the time I fixed my hair, the kids came walking into the living room. I laughed as they dropped their backpacks on the floor and collapsed on the other couch across from us.
"Tough day guys?" I asked.
Stevie looked at me with probably the most serious look I'd ever seen on the face of a 9 year old. I tried to hold my giggles back but failed as soon as Josh started to laugh himself.
"It's not funny!" She yelled.
We both stopped laughing and looked at her. She had a pained expression on her face, and looked as if she was about to cry. I frowned and looked into her eyes.
"Sweetie, is everything okay?" I asked in a concerned voice.
Stevie just frowned and picked up her backpack, it wasn't long until we heard the door to her room slam. I looked at Josh, and he looked back at me with the same perplexed look. I shrugged and looked at Neil, who also seemed surprised at his sister's actions.
"So, how was school for you buddy? 1st grade must be some exciting stuff." Josh joked, trying to lighten the mood.
After that, Neil began to tell us all about his day. From how he got to color his own name tag, to the kid that went to the nurse's office for eating finger paint during arts and crafts time. It amazed me how fascinated he was with everything, and he was only in the first grade. After he finished telling us everything, he went to do his homework, which was just a page of simple addition problems.
When he left Josh looked at me, "what do you think that was all about?" He asked, obviously referring to Stevie's strange behavior.
I shrugged, "I don't know, but I'm going to find out."
