The first day of school.
Can it get any worse?
I groaned and slammed my hand down on my alarm, stopping it. I forced myself up and started going through my clothes for an outfit.
I ended up pulling black skinny jeans up my legs and a black Misfits shirt on my upper half. I jammed my feet into some black high top Converse, sticking the show laces inside the shoes.
I covered my freshly dyed blue hair with a black beanie and put some black sunglasses on my face.
Did I forget to mention that I'm a foreign exchange student?
I'm American but I'm attending an Australian school for the rest of high school.
Today is my first day.
I'm currently living with the Hood family. They have a son named Calum and a daughter named Mali. I haven't met their son yet. He was out with friends all day yesterday, aka my first day here.
I brushed my teeth before doing my eyeliner (I ALWAYS do my waterline) and light grey eyeshadow with dark mascara. I put on light blush and some lip stain. I have a strong distaste in lipstick.
I stick my white earbuds in, blaring fetus NickelBack as I walked down stairs to the kitchen. No one was up so, with another hour to spare, I made chocolate chip muffins for breakfast. I sprinkled powdered sugar on top and stacked them neatly on a plate.
I already knew were everything was in the kitchen because that was the first thing I did when I got here was go through their kitchen.
I pulled a book out of my Jansport Mixtapes bag and started reading. Everyone in the Hood residence seemed to be used to waking up late.
To say they were surprised to see me awake with a plate of fresh two dozen muffins was an understatement.
"Honey, you didn't have to do this." Mrs. Hood shook her head.
I smiled, "Its okay. I wanted to. You've done so much for me, the least I could do is make you muffins."
She giggled and Mr. Hood chuckled.
"I should probably get going. Don't wanna be late on my first day." I stand up and turn my music back up.
"Here! Let Calum take you to school. It's his first day too and he's in the same grade." Mrs. Hood insists. I nod.
"Calum!" She yelled up the stairs. "Hurry up! You have to take October to school!"
A tan boy raced down the stairs. He was dressed in Black skinnies and a maroon top. Like the rest of the family, he had black hair and brown eyes. He slung his black bag over his shoulder as he approached me.
"You're October Hemlock?" He asked, looking me up and down. I raise my eyebrow and nod.
He nods and looks at the plate of food. "Woah! Who woke up early enough to make this?"
I raise my hand sheepishly as I take one. "Bye Mr. And Mrs. Hood. I'll see you after school."
I wave and exit the front door, blocking out the world with music. I'm so anti-social. I hate people. Calum trails not too far behind me.
