The sun beat down like needles against my skin. I kneeled on the ground, pulling out chunks of grass.
"Come on, get up, we're not done." Kenna placed her hands on her hips looking down at me.
I wiped my forehead and then plopped down into a criss cross sitting position. I glanced up, the sun peeking from behind her, causing my eyes to burn in my skull.
"I need a moment." I managed to pant.
"Nope. Get up."
"I can't have a second to catch my breath?"
"Nope, you won't get any stronger if you baby yourself."
"Yeah but I won't get stronger if I push myself past my limits either"
"Oh and throwing Kunai's at targets is pushing you past your limits?" She chuckled, "you're fine."
I groaned standing up, she was being really irritating today for some reason.
Kenna and I have been training now for the past week and a half. I could definitely feel myself getting stronger, but I still have to be careful.
If I push myself past my limits my monster will come out again...
And that's why I've been trying to take it easy."She's right you know." A familiar voice suddenly added to our conversation.
I whipped around to find none other than...Itachi?!
I nearly jumped out of my shoes and ran to wrap my arms around him. The look on his face was priceless, complete and utter shock. It had been months, possibly longer, since I had seen him.
I suppose since I have seen anyone except Tobi for that matter. Everyone was either busy with missions, or dead.Hidan got himself blown up, and Kakuzu was killed by some leaf shinobi. So much for the zombie combo...
All that remained was leader, Konan, team badass (according to Kisame), Tobi, now McKenna, and I.
"Itachi Senpai, it's been so long, where have you been?" I stepped back and looked at him. But his eyes were on something, or someone, else.
McKenna.
I looked back and forth between them, curiosity at its peak. McKenna was looking away, she didn't even acknowledge that he was there.
"We don't need your help Itachi." Her words were laced with venom, ready to strike at any moment.
"No wait, it's fine, Itachi has trained me before!" I stuck up for him.
"No no, it's fine," he flashed an empty smile at me, "we can talk later, in fact I actually might need you for something, so come talk to me."
And then he stalked off.
What followed was a void of awkward silence.
"What the hell was that all about?" I raised an eyebrow walking over to her.
"What do you mean?" She shrugged, not breaking eye contact.
"Don't act like that wasn't totally weird. Why were you so off putting towards him? Do you know him?" I paused suddenly my mind flooding with scenarios, "wait how do you know him?"
"Okay okay calm down with the questions, if you really wanna know I'll tell you, but not here." She looked around and then grabbed my wrist, "come on let's take a walk."
Once we were about 5 minutes away from the entrance of the base we stopped.
"Okay you're kind of weirding me out, why are you being so ominous about this?"
