“Mom, can I go out in the woods for a walk?” The child asked.

“Sure, Honey! I’m making dinner soon, so make it quick!” The mother replied to her son.

“Alright, mom!” The child said excitingly while running out the door. A few moments later, the father walked in to the living room.

“Where’s Billy off to?” He asked.

“Oh, he’s just off for a walk in the woods.” She replied.

“I thought we agreed to not let him go out in the woods alone. He’s such a fatuous child; he wouldn’t know what to do in the face of danger!” The father said out of frustration.

“Stop your worrying; he’s just as feckless as you are. After all, you raised him!” The mother replied jokingly.

“Whatever. I’m going to go out and check on him.” The father started walking out the door and into the woods.

“Billy?” The father asked. He saw no need in yelling; he could not have gotten that far. He kept repeating the name, but no response. He started becoming scared that his little Billy had gotten lost- or worse- kidnapped. Then he had a sudden epiphany: There had been some reports of kidnapping in the past months. “No, that would never happen to my little Billy. It just won’t happen!” he thought to himself. He kept repeating “Billy?” but he got no response. His heart started beating faster and faster.

“Billy!?” he yelled, “Billy!?” He started getting frustrated and started running deeper into the forest. He started yelling the child’s name even louder. Again, there was no response. He had been running for what seemed like seconds, but he looked down at his watch and saw that it had been minutes. It was enervating his strength and he became weary.

He started walking further into the forest. He had never been this deep! It was so beautiful. The trees were of all colors- Pink, Orange, Yellow, and even blue! He was amazed by these astounding trees. He then heard a child’s scream from nearby. It sounded like Billy’s. He ran towards the scream, and saw the most displeasuring sight he’s ever seen: a field of children’s bodies. Not a pile; a field. It made the father almost vomit. He walked around, but was cautious as to not step on the bodies. As he investigated further, he noticed that some of the bodies were decomposed. He couldn’t tell how long they had been there, but he did know that whatever was going on here had definitely been going on for years. It even could have been going on for decades.  After a few steps, he looked down and saw his child’s face. “Billy.. Oh god.. Oh, my god.” Tears started up in his eyes and he knelt down to Billy. They started pouring and they just wouldn’t stop.

He started to hear the crackling of bones behind him, and he was preparing to get up and run. Before he could, a hammer struck the back of his head and he died. Blood started gushing from the wound. The unknown figure began to walk away from his victim into the darkness of the forest until he found his next victim.
